About the Space

ABOUT THE SPACE: Our studio is a creative community space, located in a large historic industrial warehouse with tons of natural light, white walls, and beautiful 13' windows that look towards the Bay. The natural light is great between sunrise up to 2 hours before sunset. You can use the curtains or v flats to diffuse or block the harsh light out of the studio. The space available for rent is a 250 square/ft room with white walls and incredible natural light. Please note there's a separate room in the studio (not shown here) for creatives who work in letterpress and bindery. During your rental, you and your guests will be the only people in the whole studio. You can use the other rooms as a getting ready space for your clients at no extra charge. The studio is perfect for photoshoots, video production, intimate events, art shows, pop ups, performances, fundraisers and workshops. ACCESSIBILITY + PARKING: There is unmetered street parking, loading dock, a freight elevator, and carts if you're bringing in heavy things. AMENITIES: - backdrop stand - seamless backdrops (available as an add on) - 2 regular tripod stands for studio lights (studio lights are NOT included) - 1 camera tripod - extension cables - iPhone charger - speaker - clothing rack - steamer - industrial fan - heater - 2x vflats (black and white) - sink - 1 folding table (2ftx4ft) - 1 desk table (20inch x 3ft) - assortment of chairs/stools (refer to photos) - women restroom and mens restroom - nudity is allowed for creative expression, NO sexual activity is allowed

Parking description

There is only street parking. Mon-Fri mornings, it's a busy for the businesses in the area so there's less parking available. After lunch, there's a lot of street parking. On the weekends, there's a lot of parking available.

Lighting description

11ft tall windows with beautiful natural light coming in. If you want the harsh light, we recommend booking your time for the mornings until 2:00pm. You can also use the linen white curtains to soften your lights.

Space is not soundproof

Ambient noise description

You cannot hear the neighbors and they can't hear you. You'd have to be suuuuper loud for them to hear you. We're on the 3rd floor, so you can't hear what's going to in the street. No AC, but you can open the window or use the industrial fan for some air :)

Equipment loading description

There is a loading zone available. You'd have to access the loading zone after you are buzzed in and inside the building. You can open the garage. However there is no ramp. You'd have to have your own ramp in your truck/van. Dollies are in the lobby and freight elevator is available on the lobby floor which is connected to the loading zone.

No staging area available

Some rooms are off-limits for shooting

For now, the printing + binding side of the studio is off limits. Please do not touch the heavy machines. However you can use the room to get ready.

Shooting the exterior of the building is allowed

Electrical system description

There are a total of 2 sets of power outlets in the space. One on each side of the room. There are additional extension cords available.

Circuit breaker can not be accessed

General Rules

NO tape on the floors (paint will peel), please use the sand bags to hold your seamless paper down NO thumbtacks or nails on the wall. Command tape is okay to use. The key is, no holes on the walls. NO smoking All rental time includes your setup and clean up time. Please book your time accordingly. Moving furniture is fine but it must be returned to their place before you leave. Please take your food + beverage trash to the lobby garbage bins DO NOT HANDLE OR OPERATE PRINTING EQUIPMENT in the other room Guests must provide additional insurance and valid permits for all vendors if you're booking to host an event. Front door must be locked upon departure from the space; please use lock box provided

Furniture and decorations may be moved

Furniture can be moved but cannot be removed from the building/room.

Enhanced Health and Safety Measures

- Throw your food or beverage in the lobby trash bins. Do not leave it in the studio trash. - Put furniture + equipment back carefully - Please sweep up any confetti - If you added seamless paper to your rental, please cut the used/dirty paper and take it to the recycling bins in the lobby.

Enhanced cleaning measures:

High touch surfaces and shared amenities have been disinfected
The space is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with guidelines from local health authorities

All hosts are required to do the following prior to each booking:

Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.
Remove garbage and add new lining to cans.

The following equipment is provided for every guest:

Disinfecting wipes or spray and paper towels
Hand Sanitizer

The space was clean and well organized. The large windows filled it with ample, soft natural light. I booked for 3:30-5:30pm during late summer (sunset ~8pm). If you're going for a more natural look, maybe a reflector for some fill is all you'd need. This spot is definitely top of my list for studios in SF.
