About the Space
Step into a fully-functional tiki bar in a stand-alone 600 square-foot pool house. This home bar - Pearl's Hideaway - was built by popular tiki mug & lamp maker, tiki carver, and commercial & home bar builder Woody Miller. The bar features classic bamboo and matting wall coverings, vintage and contemporary tiki art and carvings, hanging lamps and Japanese fish floats, professional bar equipment, top-shelf rum collection on display in the back bar, and vintage rattan furniture. The house includes a guest bedroom and skull-themed bathroom. Immediately outside the tiki house is a lush tropical garden, wood privacy fencing, a 17'x30' pool with integrated soaking bath and color-changing LED lights, 20'x40' deck with modern cable railing. There is a 20'x50' flat lawn framed by a low stucco wall with wood gates, and mature oak trees. On a terrace below, there is a raised-bed vegetable garden. This entire area is lit at night by string/bistro lights, twinkle lights in the oak branches, and tiki torches around the deck. Below that is another terrace with a young citrus orchard with immature palm trees, mature oak trees, small tropical garden, ranch fencing overlooking our undeveloped downsloping back lot, and ANOTHER tiki bar by Woody Miller, this one a small outdoor space (approximately 10'x10'). The front yard also has a well-kept garden and small lawn, with mature palm trees and a ring of deciduous trees. The front yard is surrounded by low white stucco walls with black wrought-iron tops and gates. There are brick stairs up, and brick walkways provide access to both sides of the house without use of stairs. The front of the house shows a Spanish revival facade with arched windows, a small covered porch entry, and a mission-style chimney. Our backyard has been used as a wedding venue with a tiki/tropical theme, wedding receptions, baby shower, kids' and adult's birthday parties, fundraisers, a memorial service, and casual gatherings. It has an upscale feel, that is also family-friendly. The tiki bar is an iconic interior style for midcentury themes, pinup shoots, bar/lounge scenes, and eccentric characters.

Laura asked me all the right questions to make sure I had everything I needed, and with lightning-speed response time. My friends at my 50th were blown away by how beautiful the space was, right down to the lights in the pool and the beautiful sunset. Woody and Laura added to the party vibe as they made top-notch cocktails with a custom menu and made friends with my friends. Because of their warm and engaging personalities, they made it feel like the party was at my home. I can't more highly recommend this place.

This space was the crowning jewel for my birthday party! It truly made the whole experience special and fun. Working with Laura from the outset was an absolute delight. Communication was easy and helpful at every step of the way. Event space expectations and suggestions were reasonable and they were accommodating beyond my expectations. The hosts think about the little and large things that matter for events; offering tables, chairs, dispensers, music, and ice storage really eased additional details. My guests were blown away by the space. Thank you so much for putting the care into making an oasis in Oakland that is so special and unique. The space speaks for itself and the hosts are incredible!

I cannot explain in words how amazing this space was. I had my daughters 10th birthday party here and it was a hit with adults and kids alike. There were so many areas people could be including shaded areas and quiet calm areas. Thank you so much Laura we definitely will be booking your magical space again in the future.

What a beautiful space. We created wonderful baby shower memories. The weather could not be more perfect. Laura is an amazing. She made sure we had everything we needed. She even set a tent up for us since it was such a sunny day. The pool was a great size and everyone had fun dipping in the pool.

We had a positive experience with Laura from start to finish! She's warm and very responsive. Expectations regarding use of the space were clear and easy to follow. The space itself is wonderful. This backyard is a hidden gem! It's spacious and well kept. The girls enjoyed using the heated pool and various seating areas. They also loved the welcome sign. The adults loved the beautifully decorated Tiki Bar area. We were very pleased.

The perfect pool party for our daughter’s 1st birthday! From the generous use of the space & amenities to the most helpful & gracious hosts, we are beyond grateful to have booked this space for our celebration. Zero regrets except for wishing we had booked it for morning til night! We particularly loved: the dedicated tiki bar for storing everything party related, the convenience of the bedroom and bath, ease of communication with hosts, heated pool (esp for the kids), so many places to lounge around the pool, freedom and space on the large lawn to use for whatever — to name a few. 11/10 would book again!

This space was wonderful- Laura was very accommodating and thoughtful throughout the process, and our group had a lovely time. The pool and hot tub next to the view of the hills was the perfect respite. There was plenty of space to sunbathe and relax for all of us! Would definitely book again for future gatherings or events.

Spacious, fun, gorgeous event place. We had a wonderful birthday party with family and friends - everyone had a terrific time. Weather was an unknown on the day of our event, and the ability to heat the pool provided a lot of comfort. Laura was a very accommodating, communicative, and gracious host - would definitely come again!
