Authentic 1957 mid century modern home by architect Loren B. Abbett. Thoughtfully restored and furnished 2020 through 2023. Lovingly named #thenovellahouse as a nod to the beautiful story of how we came to be the next caretakers of this special home. The space is a unique architect-designed and custom-built 2,800 sq/ft home with no detail overlooked. The traditional post and beam construction allows for wide open spaces and beautiful flow from one room to the next. Huge windows throughout flood the house with natural light perfect for photo/video shoots. Redwood, terrazzo, VCT, and brick are just some of the original and high end finishes found throughout the house. There are several spaces in the house that are available for rent. MAIN FLOOR KITCHEN / LIVING ROOM / DINING ROOM / STAIRCASE The main floor is a wide-open and light-filled space that is perfect for photo and video shoots and events. The design is anchored by a huge 20 ft island with white stone countertops - ideal for shooting flat-lays or hosting parties. Kitchen cabinetry is all new, but expertly matched to the existing built-ins. The living room has a unique original brick fireplace that extends through the glass window to the outside. The entire main floor has several lighting options (primary track lighting on dimmers, task lighting, and original statement lighting fixtures), so don't worry if mother nature doesn't cooperate or you are here at night. Lastly, the staircase is truly a work of art, be sure to check it out in the pics. MASTER BEDROOM The master bedroom is full of light and original custom built-ins. Perfectly finished with both new and vintage furniture, art, and accessories. PINK BATHROOM The original pink bathroom was full of water damage/mold and had to be gutted. But don't fret, we replaced it with... another pink bathroom! Original beams, tongue and groove ceilings, terrazzo countertops and accents, finished off with mid mod lighting and accessories. This bathroom is always a topic of conversation at events and perfect for a fun and colorful shoot. OFFICE The unique office space is on the upper level, but open to the main floor. It boasts tongue and groove wood ceilings, a redwood wall, and a vintage credenza and desk that are original to the home. A few of the original architectural drawings are framed and displayed on the walls. BREEZEWAY / OUTDOOR SPACE The breezeway is the perfect outdoor extension of the main floor. It fully exemplifies the indoor/outdoor living that mid century modern design is known for. The space is defined by a connection to the garage and perfectly placed privacy panel. Totally covered by the roof with tongue and groove ceiling. The breezeway opens up to the beautifully wooded backyard. It's a total vibe, trust us. It's our favorite room in the room in the house. The rest of the backyard includes a huge patio, wooded fire pit area and pollinator garden. The front entry includes a sunken flagstone walkway and floating stairs.
