About the Space

Enjoy one of the oldest homes in Berwyn. The house was owned by one family for 130 years. I've maintained many objects/furniture/art from the family throughout the house. Each room is individually designed, including: late 19th century parlor, foyer and bedroom; vintage Paris theme bedroom; early-to-mid 20th century dining room; cottage core bedroom; marsh/duck themed bedroom; and a "pink room". The Parlor room features some pieces original to the house. There are old photos of the home on the wall, a Victrola Talking Machine, an old stove, a secretary and much more. Much of the wooden furniture has beautiful carvings. There is a collection of old books and hundreds of shellac records. The room is set up in a style as would be found in the late Victorian, early 20th-century era. The space would be suitable for period photo or film shoots. There is a foyer connected to the parlor, with a huge (42") old front door, slate tiles, and more antiques. It is also set up as one would find in the late-Victorian or Edwardian eras. One bedroom features mid-19th Century mahogany sleigh bed and dresser. The decor is simple and the art is all related to motherhood/children/woman's life as viewed a century (or so) ago. The room has bay windows and gets a lot of sun (when it's shining). The dining room features mid-century matching rock maple furniture - chairs, cupboards. The quarter-sawn table dates back to the mid-19th century. The decor features old maps, globes and one wall of American history (Washington, Lincoln, 48-star flag, etc.). The second floor features four bedrooms, a family room, a bath and a vintage decor wet bar. One has an antique brass bed (the marsh themed room). The cottage core room has a converted futon. The fourth bedroom is small and connected to the cottage core bedroom. It has a unique "closet" that is the open space between the roof and the ceiling of the front porch. The wetbar is a former small kitchen. It has mid-century yellow metal cabinets and a vintage farmhouse style sink, on top of a metal cabinet base. There is a small metal table with vintage chairs. There are many more antique and vintage furniture and decor that could be made available if needed, including two Morris chairs (the original recliner), 19th (possibly older) ice chest, large red steamer trunks, vintage wooden skis, vintage Icesport fridge, and more. In addition, I have other space that could be used. - There is a very large attic, which includes a finished room that was originally made for live-in caretaker back in the late 1800's - early 1900's. - The largest part of the attic is unfinished and features original wood from the 1890's in one section, and 1920's in the other. It definitely looks like an old attic. - The attic also has a unique room that is just the space inside the partial-cone dormer roof. It's pretty cool, dark, hiding/play space. Great for a horror movie. - There is a large basement, with a open space that can be used. The walls are large stones with dark mortar. There is a chimney with a vintage trap door for cleaning. There are vintage old pipes and pressure meter still used for the radiator system. - I also have a large variety of vintage: tools, cast iron ice block tongs, farm equipment (harness, yoke, sickle, scythe), art, knickknacks, etc.
