We have hosted numerous parties in our backyard, from intimate gatherings to 75-person birthdays, engagement parties and wedding showers. At the house a screen door opens to a tiled stoop with a trickling birdbath fountain and succulents, leading down to a tiled patio with a metal table and chairs surrounded by white jasmine and purple-flowered foliage. The patio leads back to a garden oasis with redwood, banana palm, jacaranda, avocado, Japanese plum, fig, lemon and orange trees, along with mature citronella and other flowering plants. A hand-tiled gas firepit is surrounded by eclectic seating for seven. The grass area of the backyard, flanked by a redwood jacuzzi tub on one end and an ivy-covered garden shed at the other, can accommodate 5-6 round 50" tables and chairs, appx. 35-42 people, more for a cocktail or standing party. There is a ping-pong table in the upper driveway behind a wooden gate, which allows for the entire backyard space to be fully enclosed.
