About Bordello 1923

Bordello 1923 is a Parisian-inspired cinematic apartment for editorial photography, fashion campaigns, boudoir, and film production in the Fashion District of DTLA. Set within a historic Beaux Arts building, it features soaring ceilings, sculptural furnishings, and natural light that together create an atmosphere designed for elevated image-making. Rather than a blank space, it is a fully realized visual world—an effortlessly editorial backdrop that feels transportive, textured, and camera-ready the moment you enter. The interiors are layered for the camera, beginning with an authentic Art Deco rug that anchors the space in texture and tone. A silk Victorian sofa, sculptural Helix tables, and swivel tulip chairs create strong, readable silhouettes designed to hold beautifully in frame from every angle. A curated collection of props is included in the rental to support immediate storytelling, featuring vintage books, a 1950s telephone, and a fully styled bar cart with authentic mid-century barware—allowing productions to walk in and shoot with minimal set dressing while maintaining a richly detailed, editorial environment. Warehouse chicken-wire windows that may be opened or closed with views of a graffitied parking structure deliver gritty views, textured daylight throughout the day, ideal for both natural-light shoots. The high ceilings and original commercial proportions make wide frames, movement, and dramatic compositions effortless. The hallway is designed as a dynamic shooting environment with layered angles and reflective depth, anchored by a monumental Rococo gilded mirror that naturally expands light and space on camera. Sculptural accents like a signature Tulip lamp, designer candlesticks, refined barware, and a curated art collection provide built-in styling moments throughout the frame, eliminating the need for additional set dressing. The interplay of modern design elements with Old Hollywood Deco detailing gives creators a versatile visual language to work with—allowing the space to shift seamlessly between timeless editorial, character-driven storytelling, and contemporary luxury concepts depending on how it is framed. The BEDROOM is especially compelling for portraits and fashion work, featuring views of the historic Eastern Columbia Building behind a velvet curtain and the headboard is a storm window sourced from Rockefeller Center in New York—an architectural detail that adds authenticity and narrative to close-up and lifestyle shots alike. This is a space designed for creatives who understand how environments shape images. It photographs clean and rich whether you’re building a fashion story, a portfolio update, a test shoot, or a cinematic moment. Well suited for: • Fashion editorials & boudoir shoots • Portrait, lifestyle, and personal branding sessions • Model portfolio development • Design-forward film & content creation Please note: the red velvet sofa is no longer in the space. The current sofa is the silk floral sage green as pictured. The kitchen and bathroom are functional and available for use. While not styled for shooting, most productions focus on the main salon, bedroom, and window areas. A considered, character-rich location for creatives who want their work to feel elevated, composed, and enduring. The unit is located on the Northwest corner that face 9th street to the North and an alleyway to the West.
