How to set up audio for a live performance
Live sound system design is a rich and complex skill set, and a lot will be determined by whichever stellar live performance venue you've chosen, as well as what equipment they already have. If they already have a PA system and a soundboard, the odds are good their staff will be able to help you set up your audio. If not, you may need to rent audio equipment. If you know the coverage needs of your performance (like the rough square footage of the venue), you can use that to select speakers that are loud enough. You may also opt to use a speaker processor. This equipment will interface with a mixer, which is also where you'll run your inputs. If you're playing in a smaller venue and using live music, you can likely get away with using the everyday amplifiers the musicians themselves typically already own.
