Our home was built in 1937; it's a beautiful eclectic mix of Bauhaus and Art Deco styles, but it has been recently upgraded to meet the comforts and standards of modern use while it still preserves all the beauty and character of its origins. Its south-orientation allows for the most incredible natural lighting at all times of the day. Its location in a cul-the-sac guarantees not only a relaxing tranquility, but also plenty of added free street parking on top of the designated house parking. Although it mainly has had a short-term-residential rental use; it has also been used as a work retreat/staff meeting center quite successfully in several occasions by local business and nonprofit organizations. The positive experiences we have had with this occasional use of the home have inspired us to make it available on Peerspace. Once you enter the house after leaving behind a beautifully manicured front garden and a sunny porch, you will be greeted by an elegant foyer that serves as a connector with the living room to the right, the bathroom and bedrooms to the left and the kitchen to the rear. The living room is this bright spacious room with a phenomenal landscape window overlooking the front rose-garden with its water fountain attracting humming and other colorful birds. The functioning fireplace is its focal point and one of the most charming features of the house all year round, but more so in the cooler months . It comfortably seats 6 people with the existing furniture; however, after adding the dining chairs 20 people can gather and have plenty of room to move around. The dining room is adjacent to the living room, which creates this convenient "combo" of spacious rooms typical of the 1st-half of the 20th century. It has an extendable table. It comfortably seats 8 persons; but, once extended 12 or even 14 folks can have a meal/meeting in a very pleasant atmosphere. The dining room windows overlook the house crown jewel: our gorgeous, fully fenced, private backyard. The kitchen is so spacious it could easily accomodate 2 or even 3 cooks at once. It has plenty of storage and it comes equipped with every single amenity one could think of. it also has a small work station in what used to be the breakfast-knot. The backyard is the most desired section of our home; specially in a city with a privileged weather such as Oakland. It is sheltered from the gentle heat of our Bay Area summers and also from the mild cold we have during our short 2-months-long winter because of its northwest orientation. It is always bright and pleasant. You have furniture both of dining and for relaxing. Our guests always rave about their experience in the patio. The house has a 2nd level with our fully equipped bathroom and it also has 3 bedrooms that are extremely comfortable and well decorated. The master bedroom comes with a full work station (an ample desk with a comfortable office chair with ergonomic design). Our home is made to created a memorable experience and its decor has an excellent collection of original artwork from Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Italy and China. It is a place that you will enjoy and remember.
