The Dearborn Loft House is a stunning 3BR/2BA single family home featuring concrete-floors, an open layout kitchen and gathering space, sun-drenched upper loft, and private gardens. When you book, you’ll have access to the entire home and gardens. HISTORY The Loft House was built in 1978 as one of the first passive houses in the Northwest. Fully remodeled in 2022 as an experiment in regenerative design, the home features new fixtures and appliances, heat pump heating/cooling, natural materials, and climate-adaptive landscape. The Loft House has appeared in Vanity Fair and features 14" raw cedar beams, metalwork by Seattle sculptor George Tsutukawa, poured concrete, and a flood of natural light. NEIGHBORHOOD The Loft House is located in a residential pocket of Seattle’s Central District: * One block from Judkins Park, playfields, and cycling/running trails * Six blocks from a vibrant retail corridor including Temple Pastries, Central Pizza, Broadcast Coffee, Standard Brewing, Reckless Noodles, full service grocery Amazon Fresh, and more. * Rapid, easy access to 1-5 and 1-90, downtown Seattle, the SEATAC Airport and Light Rail. Residential surroundings, predominantly single-family homes, which mean quiet, stunning natural light, and typically abundant parking. IDEAL USES The Loft House is an ideal setting for creative work and has hosted: * Small-scale film production: Teams from Starbucks, Conde Nast, Vanity Fair, and Washington Diary Association have produced work at the Loft House with a focus on cooking, gathering, and connection. * Photography: The stunning light, gardens, clean white walls, and unusual natural materials provide a unique backdrop for photographing visual art, food and fashion. * Gathering & Retreats: Gathering space and seating for conversation in circle format for up to 25. Past guests have hosted conversations with up to 30 at a time on the ground floor living room alone, but we'd only recommend this if participants are genuinely comfortable squeezing in. Our baseline recommendation for "normal" comfort and personal space: Ground floor Living Room: ~20. Upstairs Loft. ~ 5 * Meeting Space: Multiple gathering spaces and three generous private rooms have made the Loft House a favorite for bespoke Executive Retreats, brainstorming sessions and deep dives. Whiteboards available upon request. * Private Dinners: Seated dining at the central dining table for 6. Additional table and chairs available upon request can extend to seat 12. PARKING & LOADING The Loft House is located on a corner lot with two access points for easy access and loading/unloading. Parking for up to two vehicles in the private gravel drive. Additional free on-street parking typically available within the block. Note: Single-level: There is no grade change between the drive and main floor of the Loft House, which makes loading/ unloading straightforward. Note: if you have heavy items on wheels, we can provide plywood for smooth rolling over the gravel.
