An intimate, beautifully designed museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Tenderloin neighborhood and revitalizing the community. Recently opened on July 16, 2015, we are an elegant, spacious museum with beautiful counter space, located near downtown (about a five minute walk). We've hosted film screenings, lectures, presentations, workshops, and meetings for our community and we'd like to host your off-site too. Our space was converted from a former Sizzler Restaurant and occupies the ground floor of the famous Cadillac Hotel- the first non-profit SRO west of the Mississippi. The entire museum is available for guest use, including a retail area, the exhibition space, a storage area, and a scullery. We're located on the ground floor, and have male, female, and wheel chair accessible restrooms. Public transportation is extremely convenient, an easy walk from both Civic Center and Powell Street Bart & Muni Stations. We have 80 chairs, 3 round tables, 4 rectangular tables, table clothes, and AV equipment (Audio: Mixer board, speakers, microphone. Visual: Projector, projector screen, CD/Blu Ray DVD player). The price per hour includes an Event Manager. Capacity: 80 seated 120 standing. We have four reserved parking spaces, and the closest parking garages are EZ Public Parking (333 Jones St), Turk Street Garage (175 Turk St).
We can provide recommendations for local caterers and entertainment, and we have a great deal of flexibility if you would like to provide your own refreshments to your guests. Set up & clean up times are included in the rental hours. No smoking, and no pets.
Jean and the Museum were most welcoming and accommodating. They were very very gracious when we had to run a little late and were very pleasant to work with. The space is wonderful for an intimate event and the exhibits are well done and very interesting! Would absolutely recommend them.
The space was great and the staff was wonderful to work with. My only concern is with the neighborhood. Our guests were a bit weary of the area, and we think it affected attendance.
We had our company away day at the museum and had a very good experience! The space was perfect for team building and brainstorming. We could bring in extra chairs and move the furniture around giving us flexibility. There is also project facilities which was very useful. The museum staff were great and accommodating, helping us to set things up including arranging the catering and being of assistance the whole day. Everything was really easy to arrange and it was great to be in a space that was far more inspiring then a hotel conference room!
We hosted a party at the museum and Katie was fantastic and the venue was awesome and it had great space and really helpful staff - I will be booking a lot of my events there and will be sending my recommendations over there too Glad they had a security guy outside to man the crowd and neighbors and we were just overall pleased with how the staff and the team Worked with our vision
