Rustic & gorgeous secluded 30-acre horse ranch in Malibu Canyon with walk-in salt water pool, 2700 sq-ft production house + endless natural beauty. Available for commercial, film and photographic production. No weddings, parties or events. Only 10 minutes from downtown Malibu and Calabasas/US-101. Rental includes use of on-site photo production house with wardrobe/makeup set-up, and lounge space/food set-up area for catering and anything else required for productions of any size. Bathroom with shower, full-sized fridge & kitchenette in the space. Production house includes large private garden. ALL property exteriors are included, including ranch house exteriors/porches (coordination with family required) Downstairs interior of the main hacienda-style ranch house is an additional $150 on top for each hour used. Studio with white cyc-wall day-light studio one-time fee $300. 10-12 cars can fit in front of production house, additional parking can be arranged elsewhere on the property if needed. PLEASE NOTE ACCESS IS via 1-MILE LONG DIRT DRIVEWAY. It is a bumpy ride. Though all cars are able to make it (yes even a Prius!), low cars may experience some scraping. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. We've never had any real issues, but luxury vehicles fearful of dust and/or bumpy roads or cars w/ load tread wheels be warned! Consider offside parking with an transport for your production. We're happy to stay out of your way, but horses will continued to be exercised ect unless production has certain restrictions (audio). Our dogs are off leash and we are uncertain how strange dogs will react with them or the horses. There are also A LOT of hazards for animals - wildlife, foxtail, horses and otherwise here. However, contact us directly and we will consider on leash dogs on a case by case basis. Child-talent allowed? Yes Generator allowed? Yes Furniture/wall art movement allowed? Yes. Must be returned to original placement. Wifi? Yes. Available in production office and in the house. Mobile/cellular network reception? Somewhat spotty, but yes! Noise restrictions? Generally not an issue. Organic sounds are ok (human voices) and music is fine, non organic (guns) please check with us. Fireplace/fire pit usage? If interior ranch house rented, yes. NO FIRES anywhere on property permitted! Pool heated/usage? Black bottom Pool can be used, it is not heated. Very warm in summer. Can you record clean dialogue? Depends on the location. A distant canyon road is a popular joy-riding road especially on weekends. What is noise in the surrounding area like? Sundays are a poor choice for video production with audio needs - Piuma Rd is used as a joyriding/racing road (unfortunately). Traffic noise echoing in the canyon is minimal all other days, however. Is there dedicated space available for hair & makeup? Yes, in the production house. HMU room is separated from the crew holding space. Shared bathroom, but directly outside closed HMU room. What is the natural light like (exposure, # of windows)? This listing is primarily for exteriors; Production house has low light, Main Ranch House has large round windows facing west/sunset view (low light in AM), gorgeous light in evening. Are all areas of the space accessible for production purposes (including the exterior). No. Interior of the ranch house is additional. Daylight Studio is additional. Booking includes all developed exteriors and production house with crew holding, food storage, HMU and bathroom. Additional bathroom in the house usually can be made available as well as it has exterior access. What are the power capabilities like in the space? The production house was a former photo studio (w/ day light studio). There are light hook ups all over the property, easy to run lines. The main ranch house is an old home, and is less reliable for large power needs. If you have large power requirements or desire to be mobile we recommend generators. Will there be an on-site manager present during the booking? Suze will be present, for larger groups or those with desire to use the horses we hire a site rep. What are the parking and load-in / load-out options on site? Approx 15 cars can be accommodated in front of the Chapel Production House. Overflow parking can accommodate 40+. Outlets and driveway parking with appropriate ferrying can accommodate 100.
