The perfect space to host a intimate event without spending a month's rent. Perhaps you’d love to have 30 of your closest friends over for birthday cocktails, but New York apartments are just too small to accommodate your dream soiree? Look no further! We are accepting bookings for your special event: * Wedding * Baby Shower * Bridal Shower * Birthday Party * Anniversary Party * Dinner Party * Friendsgiving * Other Private Events The space comfortably seats 20 people for a sit down dinner and up to 60 people for a standing cocktail event. It’s a furnished environment including a full kitchen where your friends can cook up a storm or your caterers can make themselves at home. Chic but homey, and looks great in photographs. The natural light is beautiful and abundant! To keep our space affordable, set up and clean up is up to you. You may move items, we just ask that you please return them to their original place. That being said, you are welcome to use anything in our fully-stocked kitchen (plates, cutlery, glasses, serving platters, pots and pans, cake stands, etc.) - anything that can be washed and put back, you're welcome to! Please note that the decorations in the space (such as the swooping cloth pictured in the photograph) changes in accordance with the season. We'd be happy to provide you with information about the specific decorations during your rental time. We do not provide speakers or a sound system. Renters can bring a portable speaker from home for background music. Loud music is not allowed (i.e. if you want to hire a DJ, we are probably not the venue for you). Renters are expected to be respectful of neighbors and keep reasonable noise levels at all times. St. Lydia's is a small storefront church space that hosts rentals of all kinds. We are a progressive, LGBTQIA-affirming congregation working together to dispel isolation, reconnect neighbors, and subvert the status quo. Proceeds from all rentals are in direct support of St. Lydia's. Thank you! <3
- Guests are responsible for their own set up and clean up. - There are books and other items on our shelves. You are welcome to move them, but must return the space to how it was when you found it. Please take photos at first to be sure! - We have three large oval tables - you are welcome to take them apart, so long as you set them back up before you leave. It takes at least ten minutes and two people - we will provide you with detailed instructions. It's tricky, but absolutely not impossible! - As this is a operational church, please note that there are religious items such as bibles in the space. We do have a cross, which is very easy to take down and put in the garden out back. Renters should be comfortable with this aspect of our identity. PLEASE NOTE: If the space is left untidy (food and decorations left behind, garbage unbagged, floor unswept, items out of place etc.) we will charge a cleaning fee. THANK YOU!

Christine D. booked an event for 35 people
This space was perfect for a birthday party I held where I had about 25-30 guests. Three main points: First -- the space truly is beautiful. It felt warm and inviting, with plenty of seating and the lighting at the time was Christmas lights. I think in the description it says something about wanting to have a dinner party but not having enough space -- this really did feel like a (huge) home to have friends to. Second -- the space is very versatile! Part of the party involved a slideshow presentation (I brought my own projector and screen) and there was space and seating for about 30 people to sit and watch comfortably. We didn't even break down the tables, just moved them to the side. Third -- Julia was a dream to communicate with and helped me get in, was super responsive day-of, and great! I highly recommend booking St. Lydia's. It's also close to a lot of great (large) bars so you can take the party over there when it gets late.
Frecia Felina P. booked a 50th birthday party for 30 people
Kiah was very helpful and responsive. The space was both spacious and intimate. I celebrated my 50th birthday party at this space, which we comfortably had about 25 people. What I loved best about it is the rustic feel it provides with the exposed bricks and table tops. Another big factor that lead us to choose this space was the fact that it provided a ton of seating and tables. Overall we were very pleased with the location and would recommend it to others. Felina
Darko L. booked a baby birthday for 20 people
My wife and I hosted our sons first birthday party in this beautiful space! Both Julia and Kiah were very responsive and provided us with all the relevant information and answered all our questions in a timely manner. The place is truly beautiful and the decorations and lighting are great and easily operated from a few switches. Bathroom has a baby changing station which is a life saver if you are hosting kids parties/baby showers. As great as the place was, and this is strictly constructive criticism, there were a few issues that should be worked out. They are as follows and the only reason I am giving 4/5 stars: 1) The place was surface cleaned but the floors were very dirty (beware if you have kids crawling around) . 2) Same with the counter tops which had some food stains etc. 3) In addition, both the garbage bin and recycle bin were full to the top and had to be emptied. When we left we made sure all the garbage and recycling was taken out in the storage box in the backyard. We also swept up, cleaned the tables and left the place how WE would have liked to have found it. I think the biggest problem is the hosts count on the previous occupant to clean the place and as such everyone will have different standards. Lastly I would say that the backyard, which is completely unfinished and unusable is a missed opportunity since it would add so much to this already great space. That said, we would not hesitate to book again and we will definitely book again!

Andrew B. booked a baby shower for 20 people
It was a perfect space to hold a baby shower for a group of 25, and very friendly and accommodating people whom represent the venue.
Sarah G. booked an event for 40 people
What a fantastic spot, so cute! We had a little girl’s birthday party here and the set up was perfect for some pirate-themed arts and crafts, pizza and cake. Sooo much better than Chuck E. Cheese ;)
Jennifer G. booked a birthday dinner for 40 people
I had such a great experience with this venue. Although I did not have time to visit the place prior to my event (totally my fault for booking 2 days before) I was blown away by the coziness and cleanliness of the room. Our host was available through message throughout our 4 hours and she was very helpful and prompt when it came to questions asked. I would highly recommend this place.
Robin L. booked a baby shower for 30 people
We had a perfect experience in this great space for my daughter's baby shower. It is bigger than it looks, and there are several different "areas" where folks can congregate. It is a perfect spot for homey, friendly, unpretentious event, but still hip Brooklyn. We especially liked the fact that the fees would be supporting this group's important community mission of inclusion and acceptance. Several of our guests were already thinking of events they'd like to hold in the space.
