Approximately 2000 square feet. Great for unique holiday parties, themed mixers, company get togethers, fundraisers and the like. Walking distance to Bart and Muni. Art gallery space in the back as well as nooks and crannies full of books and ephemera. We are a working bookstore but available for rentals after store hours, usually 8-11pm. If you'd like the space during what would normally be out business hours we are happy to work with you and close up early. Feel free to come by during normal business hours and check out the space. Send me an email and I shall tell you the address. Live music or DJ's are fine as long as they aren't crazy loud. We have a PA, microphones and speakers for your use. (You can input standard audio signals from a phone, laptop, etc. via the headphones output on your device). Please note that we are a cooperativley run store that exists solely to promote and uphold the arts and intellectual advancement of the Bay Area community. We do not exist to make a profit, merely to get by and to serve our community!
You must provide all cleanup. Absolutely no persons out on the sidewalk drinking and making noise as this invites complaints and police. Bringing your own alcohol is fine, we can provide a tub for ice and a table- you provide cups etc. Food is fine to bring as well. Because we have many public events, if there will be guests entering and exiting during the event it would be helpful to have someone on hand to tell random strangers that this is a private gathering so you don't get stragglers coming into your party. One of our staff members will be on hand during your event. No shoplifting books! But you can purchase any books or art during your event. We have our own events going on throughout the year so yours will have to work around our schedule.
I planned a surprise party for my husband at Adobe Books. It was a huge success, in large part to Max and his warm, intimate venue. From the first day I booked on Peerspace, Max was so communicative, generous, and helpful. When I dropped by the shop with a friend on a reconaissance mission, Max showed us around, showed us where he would move furniture and set up the bar. By the time the party rolled around, I didn't have anything to worry about. I showed up a bit early, and Max was already there and the food and bar were already set up beautifully. We were able to play my husband's favorite playlist over the sound system, and friends were so blown away by the incredible selection. It was the perfect party, my husband was SO surprised, and I would recommend Max and Adobe Books to anyone and everyone who is considering throwing a small party in the Mission.
Maximillian was a great host. We had to make a few changes after booking and he was incredibly flexible. The location itself was amazing. Our team LOVED shooting here and loved the way our video turned out. We would definitely book at this cool location again.
Max and the Adobe books team were lovely and helpful. The store is spacious, clean, and easy to reconfigure for a variety of types of events (ours had a few different 'stations' for people to do activities and the Adobe team was very accommodating for our needs.) Our group truly enjoyed hosting our event at Adobe!
Adobe Books is an amazing space to host an event. Maximillian was helpful every step of the way and incredibly accomodating. The bookstore itself is a gem and we can’t wait to go back to browse the great book selection. Thank you so so much for having us!
I rented this space for my 30th birthday and it was AMAZING. Multiple people from the Adobe Books team were there helping me set up, volunteering ideas, and just being super supportive--but really laid back. And they were great to hang out with! This was a really unique, special place to have my birthday, and it couldn't have been better. Book it! And come here anyway because they have great books!
What a gem! I can't say enough about how lovely this space is - don't hesitate. It's a beautiful store, already decorated with beautiful books, arches through the shelves, large tile floors, a clean + cute bathroom, it goes on. We hosted a gathering for about 50 people for our non-profit. We had a long table full of food and drink, and another long table for a silent auction. The speaker system was perfect for tunes and we took advantage of the PA system. Everything was ready to go when we arrived. Max managed our booking and communication before-hand, and he has an amazing crew of people who support events. Ann and Rebekah were AWESOME. They helped us set up, and throughout the event offered support (managing music when we had speakers step up to the PA, etc), and they helped us breakdown. All this help and Rebekah and Ann were also just so sweet and cool. We loved having our event here. It's a special space. Beyond the fantastic experience, our non-profit was thrilled to find that Adobe Books is a community supported book shop and many of their employees volunteer their time in order to keep this place running. No brainer, book this, support this, enjoy this place!
The entire team at Adobe Books was super helpful before and during my birthday party there. Special props to Ann, who did all the little things during setup, party-time, and cleanup (especially since I was running late!). My friends all loved the venue, so mission accomplished :).
