Built by a Hollywood set designer in 1937, the Swiss Chalet is a historic home set in the foothills of one of the most enchanting areas of east LA. Enjoy the view of the mountains from the upper terrace, bask in the sun by the pool, take in the sunset over a glass of wine from the veranda, and stargaze from the jacuzzi nestled between majestic pines and picturesque Californian oaks. Here you'll enjoy the combination of mid-century modern gusto and the warmth of an alpine lodge. This is the perfect place for your photo shoot, small film shoot, yoga class on the terrace, or any other kind of event you could dream up. Inside the chalet you'll find original hardwood floors and vintage Mexican tiles, 15-ft ceilings with 200-year-old exposed beams reclaimed from a deconstructed pier in Seal Beach, Dutch doors pulled from a 19th century historic LA home, a grand fireplace, iridescent stained glass windows, and the unmatched charm of the Tyrolean architectural style, and mid-century modern furnishings. The front door opens on a spacious living room equipped with ample seating, a vintage Persian rug, Moroccan poufs, and a custom-designed Danish rosewood sofa. The chalet is nestled in one of LA's best preserved historic neighborhoods, Verdugo Woodlands. Located within a 10-minute drive to downtown LA, Echo Park, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Highland Park, a 15-minute drive to Silver Lake, Pasadena, and Hollywood, and a 45-minute drive to Santa Monica and the coast, the chalet is positioned at a convenient distance from all of the natural, urban, and artistic and cultural points of interest that LA has to offer. Verdugo Woodlands is named for and filled with a wonderful variety of trees including coast live oak, jacaranda, redwood, pine, and sycamore. It has a rich Spanish, Mexican and American history dating from 1784. The oldest existing structure, the Catalina Verdugo Adobe, was constructed circa 1828, and is located within a 5 minute walk from the house.

Beautiful backyard and nice host. Only complaint was that it was very dark on the inside of the house. Would definitely recommend this space.

Everything about this spot was great! The host was super easy to work with and very accommodating. The location was as advertised, clean, and perfect for our filming needs. It has a really great back area where there is a hot tub and area to relax to have lunch in or to just generally hang out. If you're just looking for a nice little spot to host a retreat, have a group outing, or to film something at, I highly recommend this place tucked into a really quiet and quaint part of Glendale.

Victor was very communicative and easy to work with! The space was as unique and decorative as in the photos. We did a portrait photoshoot. We got a mix of different lighting situations so we got some bright portraits as well as some more interesting dark, moody photos as well as shadowplay! The outdoor area is a cool bonus, too!
