About the Space

Constructed in 1977 as part of a major recording facility, this large room was designed for great sound, with ceilings over 20 feet and a distinctly vintage feel. Ideal for music rehearsals, video shoots, casual jams, special media events, theme parties, exclusive fundraising events or even intimate concerts, everything simply sounds wonderful in this space. You'll also find vintage instruments such as: • A few dozen guitar instruments and amps • 1928 Steinway concert grand piano • Authentic Hammond B3 organ, • Electric pianos • Drum kits *Professional musicians, sound and recording services available upon request. We can also arrange catering and other amenities as needed.

Parking description

There are a dozen parking spaces outside the building. We will be awaiting your arrival and provide phone contact to make sure you arrive smoothly.

Space does not have natural light

Lighting description

We have 18 professional LED lamps, some bicolor and some full LED, available for your use via remote control. Most of them are wall-mounted, all with full pivoting and several on swing arms, and a few additional lamps are available to be placed on stands around the set as you see fit. There are no windows. We also have some torchiere style floor lamps for mood and overhead track lighting. It's basically a vintage recording studio with TV studio lighting built-in.

Space is soundproof

Ambient noise description

This is a purpose-built recording studio with outstanding isolation from every type of outside noise. It's also just a great-sounding room!

Equipment loading description

Most equipment is loaded in through the front door, up six steps. However for special requirements we do have a truck-height loading dock in the back of the main space.

Staging area is available

Depending on needs, we can reserve up to three other small studio spaces for your shoot.

Some rooms are off-limits for shooting

The building is a multi-room facility, so other studio spaces would need to be booked separately. This booking is for the main large recording space plus three isolation booths within it. We don't mind if you want to pick up a couple shots in the building foyer, break room, etc.

Shooting the exterior of the building is allowed

Electrical system description

We will have a site supervisor to deal with flipping circuits if needed. Our building has four separate electrical hookups to the street, so power is isolated in different sections of the building. We have at least 20 standard outlets in the main space.

Circuit breaker can not be accessed

General Rules

• No smoking • No hard alcohol; responsible guests may bring in limited food, beer or wine. • Vintage instruments must be treated with care and respect • Absolutely no glitter, confetti, or silly string • No pets • Rental times include setup & breakdown; overtime will be charged up to 1.5x

All ages are allowed in the space

Production insurance is required

This is situation-specific, but in general we expect to be indemnified fully with the production company insured fully enough that it wouldn't be an issue.

Furniture and decorations may be moved

You can do just about anything as long as it can be put back intact. We would discourage you from moving the concert grand piano (without assistance) and Hammond organ.

Smoke machines are allowed

Security cameras and recording devices

Recording devices in bathrooms or dressing rooms are prohibited by the Peerspace Services Agreement.

All hosts are required to do the following prior to each booking:

Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.
Remove garbage and add new lining to cans.

No, I would not book again.

Beautiful space, lots of instruments and such to shoot with. Note, the space is very cluttered and you will not be able to have a full production in the recording studio. Ask Jay to rent other spaces or you will be charged after the shoot.
