About the Space

Sacred Sands is a architecturally renowned retreat unlike any other only 1 mile from the West entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. It commands beautifully unobstructed views on 5 pristine acres with access to climbing and hiking routes. We have several unique spaces on the property ideal for print and filming commercials especially. Before entering the space you'll see our coveted wedding ceremony circle that is rife with possibility for all sorts of creative endeavors. As you enter our through our elegantly rustic iron gates you'll see our lovely beautifully landscaped large courtyard and gardens that easily fits 120 people while walking down are twisting boardwalk. To your right you'll see our magnificent indoor ballroom with tall vaulted ceilings and two giant chandeliers that leads to our full service kitchen ideal for catering prep. As you continue straight you'll find yourself in our Moroccan lounge/Breezeway that leads up to our patio with sunset views that we use for cocktail hour at weddings. The ballroom has two doors to our outdoor patio that wraps around it and one door leading to the courtyard. On the other side of the breezeway you'll find our two breathtaking rooms that offer the ultimate in zen and tranquility. Newly furnished with Moroccan decor these rooms are nearly soundproofed and have an indoor shower with 5 body sprayers and plush brand new linens on the plush California King mattresses. Walk through the rear doors of our exquisite rooms and you'll find yourself on our own private outdoor patio with a cast-iron tub and rainhead outdoor shower. The tub has a viewing window so you can see the views of the park while drinking a glass of wine and having a deep soak after a long day of hiking or a shoot. Feel free to use our shipping container on the property and we have 49 parking spaces on the property itself with access to parking attendants. We also own property across the street and for overflow truck parking. Helmed by a veteran event planner with 15 years of film production experience, our keen attention to detail and excellent communication will take away the stress of finding the right venue for your needs. At Sacred Sands, we’re happy to connect you with our preferred vendors or even hire them for you to simplify your event planning! Our rates ebb and flow throughout the year, so please contact us for a proposal, scheduling a tour if needed and to discover everything our venue has to offer. Depending on the length of your shoot we will likely waive a fee for your Tech Scout. Amenities: Please refer to our website for a full list of amenities. Art Dept can also move around and use our furniture as long as they left it as they found and take before and after pictures. Bathrooms: For groups of 5 or more you must rent a honeywagon or similar. We encourage you to give Burrtec a call for affordable and well designed/clean options. WiFi: Sacred Sands is in a rural area and we have the highest speed internet available, but city folk may find it is slower than normal. Smoking/Fires: -Cigarettes: We allow smoking outside the main entrance and the designated cigarette can must be used to prevent fires. If we find any evidence of smoking inside the property or in the rooms we charge a strict $500 fine as we pride ourselves on being a non-smoking facility. Cannabis can be smoked on our grounds as long as you are not inside. Cannabis cigarettes must be disposed of in the cigarette cans you will find around the property. Please make sure the cigarette/cannabis cigarette is 100% extinguished in the can before leaving it. We charge a $300 fine for smoking Cannabis indoors. -We require a Fire Safety Advisor or Officer for any pyro that is needed beyond a candle burning. Please discuss your pyro needs with us and we will inform you of what we can accommodate. Surrounding Property: -Due to the desert flora and fauna surrounding us we encourage all guests to wear closed-toe shoes if they take off to hike from Sacred Sands or shoot on the grounds surrounding our venue. If you decide to hike at night or shoot at night please use a flashlight or headlamp and wear closed-toe shoes. Always bring plenty of water. We can provide you a blacklight flash light for scorpions at night. and we encourage productions with ample budgets to have a medic and snake wrangler if your shooting in the terrain around us. Security Deposit: -We will place a $500 safety deposit on your card for loss and damage. Shortly after you check out or wrap we will assess the room for loss and damage. If everything is how it was found we will refund your safety deposit within a week. Should loss and damage exceed over $500 we will charge the guest the exact remaining amount in repairs/replacements as evidenced by receipts we will provide or you can have your production insurance cover it. Animals: No animals that are not picture animals are allowed on the property. All animals used for shoots must have health certificates and animal wranglers no matter the creature, we encourage you to have a representative from AHA or Movie Animals Protected. Animals must have a designated holding area. Insurance: Client understands that Sacred Sands does not provide insurance for the Venue. Client must provide or obtain liability insurance coverage in a minimum amount of $1,000,000 naming Niemann Hamm Family LLC dba Sacred Sands as an additional named insured. Client must provide Sacred Sands a certificate of liability insurance evidencing such coverage. Any contracted vendors for the event are also required to hold general liability insurance coverage and provide Sacred Sands with a certificate of such insurance. Sacred Sands must be included as an additional named insured regarding the Client’s use of the premises and such insurance shall be primary and non-contributory insurance as it relates to any similar insurance carried by Sacred Sands, the Owner or the city of Joshua Tree. Client agrees to provide Sacred Sands with a certificate of insurance confirming the insurance required herein at least 7 days prior to the event. Sacred Sands further reserves the right to request additional insurance coverage depending on the nature and size of the event. Indemnification: To the fullest extent of the law, the client shall indemnify, protect, defend and hold harmless Sacred Sands, the city of Joshua Tree, its officers, directors, trustees, agents, employees and independent contractors from each and every claim, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including, without limitation, attorneys' fees) and any amounts paid in settlement, resulting from or relating to the event, the client, its member's, agent's, vendor's and guest's actions or omissions concerning any activities undertaken pursuant to the location agreement we will send you or contemplated hereby. To Note: -If you have stayed at Sacred Sands in the past, please note that due to circumstances beyond our control we no longer serve breakfast, however we can have breakfast brought to your room for an added fee. -Please wear sandals, flip-flops etc. when using the outdoor showers and walking to the outdoor soaking tubs. Please no glass in the private patio areas. It is impossible to clean-up. -We encourage our guests to unplug and experience the awe inspiring nature around them.
