Spacious hacienda styled home with saltillo tiled floors and colorful stucco walls in the Oaxacan tradition. Heavy wooden furniture in a Spanish revival / mission style, architecture features heavy pillar walls and large windows. A tile patio outside overlooks a deck on a lake. We've kept the perimeter of the lake (which is fed from the Rio Grande) as natural as possible, allowing the native trees and plants to grow wild at most of the water's edge. The home has been used before for B roll footage for a documentary about grapefruits (there are several grapefruit trees, mango trees, lime trees, other fruit trees on the property) for an outdoor shoot where the photographer wanted to zoom in on the grapefruit on the branch, with the lake shimmering in the background. Weddings, commercial footage has also been shot here. The patio overlooking the lake faces directly west to the sunset. There can be truly stunning sunset colors setting over the lake depending on the weather. It would be particularly suited (indoors) for photoshoots aiming for a Mexican, Spanish, or Central American look, Tex-Mex look, food displays, short filming for commercials. There is a private library indoors with bookshelves lining the wall, and french doors in the library open outside facing east, opening up to the sunrise. Large kitchen with tile accents has plenty of space for camera and crews. There are two bedrooms upstairs that can be rented individually for sleeping quarters. If you rent the room overnight, it may be used all day as well as a dressing room for models, or to store equipment overnight. It is convenient to be on site for early morning sunrise photography. The property can invoke a variety of unique 'moods', from hacienda / mission indoors, to wild brush near the water's edge (I've left a segment of the property completely wild to provide habitat for migrating birds and critters), very old trees, or wholesome, all-American backyard fishing with the family with a BBQ pit (there are catfish and big mouth bass in the lake). A wood burning fireplace in the living room can be started up for "winter" or Christmas - themed photography or filming. There are mesquite logs for burning available outside, and a trick to create a huge roaring fire is to stuff a dry palm frond under the wood logs. The upstairs bedrooms are not in the hacienda style and look like typical bedrooms with carpet, white walls. The two bedrooms are available to rent individually in the extras page as overnight rentals, if you'd like to use those spaces as dressing rooms, to film/ photograph, to use for storage space, and/or to sleep in overnight. The house is on about 2 acres of land and is a work in progress. Parts of the area unavailable for filming include an empty swimming pool which is in a terrible condition. You might notice cracks in the walls or old glass panes, these are things that are being worked on as the house is being updated. Generally, most of the property could be used for filming except the empty pool and my personal bedroom space. Older home is not very wheelchair accessible (there are two steps to enter the house, no ramp) and there is no wheelchair accessible bathroom. Please keep in mind. Thank you for considering this property.
