This lovingly restored barn from 1835 is located in the northern Catskill Mountains, 30 minutes from many attractions including Wyndham, Hunter, and more. In addition to the barn, you’ll have private access to the 11 acre estate, which includes a custom playground, multiple hammock areas, meadow, fire pit, outdoor bar and even a private trail! The space The enchanting charm lies in the character and details. You will find railroad ties functioning as original support beams, dating back to the days before the transcontinental railroad. Nearly 200-year-old original wooden foundation beams are also exposed throughout the property. The more recent history of the property dates to 2002, when French artists purchased the barn and had it lovingly restored over a 12 year period, meticulously planning every nook and cranny to maintain the farmhouse while adding an industrial, French aesthetic. Every effort has been made on both the barn and the estate it sits on, to create a feel of the French countryside on the east coast. In the barn La Grange is 3500 ft.², made up of 5 BR’s. There are three primary methods of entering the barn, ensuring privacy and ease of access for all guests. On the Ground Floor Enter from the main entrance into a large communal space, including the open concept stainless steel chef’s kitchen and a large living room space that is divided into two rooms by the floating stairs that take you upstairs. A large, handmade dining table serves as the centerpiece of the space, allowing for meetings, family gatherings, or just a great central hub. The living room includes a 55 inch TV with all the smart tv features you can imagine and a fully stocked "old-school" nintendo, comfortable loveseats, lounge chairs, and a wood-burning stove for the colder nights (the barn also has A BRAND NEW HEATING SYSTEM and 4 zone central heating!) One master suite (The Mamie & Papy Room) is located on the first floor, ideal for older visitors. The first floor bathroom includes a shower bath with dual nozzles and track lighting. Upstairs As you ascend the floating stairs, a beautiful hallway directs you to the various rooms including a laundry room, walk-in closet, and master bath with two person Jacuzzi tub, waterfall shower, and dual vanity. Two guest rooms are off of this hallway, as well as the entry to the master suite, which includes a stunning den with 42 inch TV and full-size pull out couch. The connected master bedroom suite is 350 ft.² and features a four poster bed. The Estate There is so much to explore outside at La Grange. The 10.7 acres are unique in that they are mostly set straight back, allowing for a hike in nature, without seeing another soul! Head out down the stairs through the balcony off the master bedroom and you will see apple trees, ideal for picking in the fall and making apple pie. The playground off the side of the house allows kids to play while being supervised safely from the kitchen. The barbecue set, patio, and multiple sitting areas create a welcoming area right off of the main door to the property. But there’s even more to explore on the grounds. Take a walk up the path and you will arrive at the Prairie, a beautiful open meadow on the property with additional apple trees and a shaded seating area. Follows signs to continue on the path through the property and you will arrive on a private dairy trail, with a gorgeous shaded canopy of trees all around you. Those willing to continue the adventure may be lucky enough to come across the stream, a great place for supervised play for kids. Make sure to wear bright colors when you go out into the woods on our property! While the interior of La Grange is magical, the property is what you write home about. Hiking trails are abound in the Catskills, but a private hiking trail is something special! La Grange is located a seven minute drive from Stamford, New York, a beautiful town with all of the amenities you would need for your shooting needs including a grocery store, Walgreens pharmacy, liquor store, ice cream shops, restaurants, coffee shops, farm stands, and more. On the drive to Stamford, not more than five minutes from La Grange, you’ll come across a beautiful lake which would provide an additional area for shooting. Belleayre, Hunter and Wyndham mountains are about 30 minutes drive away, all along major roads that are plowed 24/7, making La Grange an ideal location for not just warm weather, but winter shoots as well. La Grange offers high-speed Internet throughout the estate and 5G cell phone signal!
