**NOTE FROM MARCELO, OWNER OF SPACE** Hi guys! So I've been running this Peerspace spot of out my apartment for a year now. I did all of the production design myself and I also clean the apartment myself before each booking. It is a lot of hard work and is not a glamorous job, but as you can see in my reviews, a lot of guests have had a great experience here. Please understand that while that I designed this place to be a studio first and an apartment second, that it is still my home. It's where I live part time. That's why the current rate is one of the lowest on Peerspace. Because as an artist myself, I understand what it's like to work on a budget That's who I created this space for: The people. The artists. The true creators. With that said, if there's anything I can do to make the experience better for you, please get in touch and I'll come running! Remember. You are a guest in my home. And that means I want to make you feel at home just like I would when my friends and family come over. Run around and express yourself and make awesome stuff!! There's nothing more I want than for you to have a space where you can unleash your creativity and be inspired to do what you do best. Thank you for considering my space. - Marcelo ABOUT THE SPACE: Shooting a portrait, but don't have seamless paper? I painted the walls a variety of colors and hung vibrant fabrics for you to use. But what if you want to shoot against a white or black backdrop? Use the V-Flat I have provided! Need fun props for your shoot? Just look around the apartment and pick one! BREAKDOWN OF EACH SET: 1. The PINK KITCHEN: Exposed brick, natural light, vintage decor, neon lights, white curtains. Pink paint. The best stories are told in the kitchen. *Fire escape is off limits. 2. THE OFFICE: We call this room, "1984" Authentic vintage wallpaper surrounds the walls. Blue, white, and brown is the color palette here. A brown executive desk ties the room together. A luxurious leather chair is provided for the ones who want to exude confidence and power. This office is where you'll find most vintage electronics such as a Macintosh Computer, televisions, VHS tapes, and rotary phones, but it doesn't end there. Take a look around and find a prop that helps you tell your story. And if you want to take a TV or a phone to another area of the apartment, go ahead. Just don't forget to put it back where you got it, please :) 3. DREAMHOUSE BLUE ROOM: This room is painted with a color created by BARBIE and BACKDROP called "Dreamhouse Blue." You'll find pink, purple, and blue decor in this room such as a Lava Lamp and a Blue rotary phone. Includes a wardrobe rack and a large mirror for your HMU and wardrobe needs. You'll find some softboxes on top of the Murphy Bed in case you need to use them. *Murphy Bed itself is off limits and should not be pulled down for any reason. Sorry, I don’t want people on my bed. :) 4. MULTI-COLOR STUDIO: The walls here are drenched in three colors: BARBIE PINK, BARBIE PURPLE, and RED ("Lipstick On The Mirror"). Red velvet curtains are provided as backdrops and to block natural light. The photos provided don’t show the equipment available for you to use because I wanted to show you the production design first. This is where you'll find the equipment available for you to use, and the list is below: LIST OF EQUIPMENT: 1. C-Stands (x3) 2. Light-Duty Light stands (x3) 3. V-Flat (x1) *Be EXTRA gentle when handling. 4. Aputure LS 120d light (x1) 5. Softboxes: Aputure 90 Lantern (x1); Aputure Light Dome II (x1) (you’ll find these on top of the Murphy Bed in the blue room) 6. Interfit F5 Light (x1) 7. 4x4 Muslin Flag (some paint splatter on it from a previous guest, but it does the job) 8. 5-in-1 Reflectors (x2) 9. Apple Boxes (x3 full; x1 half) 10. Circular acrylic sheets (x3) 11. Gels (you’ll find these on top of the Murphy bed in the blue room)

Marcelo's home is a bevy of opportunities! I loved it so much I rented it again, able to create two different environments from the space with ease. Easy to light, with so many cool and exciting props and pieces making it feel authentic and lived in. The red room does face the street, so noise can be a bigger issue than in other parts of the apartment, but easy to work around. Marcelo is a wonderful person to work with too, very communicative and eager to help make the experience go as well as possible. Highly recommend.

This has been my go-to Peerspace for photoshoots and content creation...and for good reason! Marcelo is incredibly kind and accommodating. When we arrived, he walked us through the apartment so we could triple check that everything was clean and ready for us to use. As always, he takes customer experience very seriously. The Peerspace has since been updated and he communicated that to us very clearly before we booked. He did a great job with it and the vibes are quirky and awesome!!

It was great space, we loved it.
It was great space, we loved it.
Pros: Quirky and colorful, with some fun objects to play with. There's lots you can do with the space. Various lighting racks, diffusers, and a spotlight are available. It’s inexpensive and in a good location. The host was nice, accommodating, and communicative, and he was up front about the slight differences between the space and the ad. Cons: The space wasn’t clean. There was dog fur all over, bits of trash on the floor (even a random pair of underwear), and the kitchen area was cluttered. Clearly other renters had not been taking care of the space. I can’t complain too much because it was quite affordable and had lots of pros, but I think the host could charge more if the space was cleaner and less cluttered. I would book again, but I'd ask for the space to be tidied ahead of my arrival (or ask for 30min free so I could clean it myself). Def bring a trash bag.
