About the Space
Authentic one-of-a-kind 1955 Mid-Century house, architected by Frank Lloyd Wright understudy Matthias Goebel, known as the “Barina House.” Spacious 3,300 sq/ft home that has 96 windows, California redwood ceilings throughout, a dramatic two-way wood burning fireplace, skylights, and several indoor 10’ trees. Yes, trees. Indoors. The natural light is incredible and great for photography and film. The foyer/dining room area is an excellent entertaining space that can easily accommodate 40 guests. Sunken living room for additional seating or enjoying a nice fire. Dusk is spectacular. The furnishings are Danish teak, with heated slate floors. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an office with original cork flooring. Massive original wall hanging by fiber artist Sharon Jaunsem and other unique pieces make this interior a timeless design. The house is secluded and sits on an acre of land on a dead-end street. There are several outdoor entertaining spaces and room for activities. 4-minute walk to Lake Michigan and the neighborhood’s private beach for more photo opportunities.
