About the Space
A unique, beautiful and historic venue for your next event. The turn-of-the-20th-Century Philipse Manor Railroad Station building, home of the Hudson Valley Writers Center since the 1990s and alongside an active train stop, is available for your next meeting, birthday party, bar/bat mitzvah, wedding, private reading, presentation, reunion, or any other event you are hosting! We are also happy to host small film shoots. Lovingly restored, this building (listed on the National and State register of historic places) features dark, chestnut wood-paneling and hardwood floors, a rustic stone fireplace, large porch with gorgeous views of the Hudson River, and plenty of train station parking (freely available on weekends and evenings). In 2005, the Center received the Excellence in Historic Preservation Award from the Preservation League of New York State. Located on a quiet street, you and your guests can relax on the porch and watch boats dock and trains pass. With air conditioning, internet access, a lectern, microphone, folding tables, and dozens of chairs available, we can help make your next event one to remember. Use of our Great Room, two bathrooms, a front porch, our adjacent parking spaces (can be used for other things besides parking), and a back balcony overlooking train/river. We have a small kitchenette equipped with small microwave, small fridge/freezer, sink, and counter. Groups often use this for a food staging area. The space is on one level and is wheelchair accessible. There are no stairs; there’s a slight ramp in front off the parking lot. Trains stop here and race past, so this is train background noise intermittently.
Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages allowed
You can bring in prepared food. You can prepare food onsite with our limited kitchen area. (Please be reminded that there is no stove or cooking surface. We have a microwave, mini fridge / freezer and a small kitchenette area.)

There are items that are left from other events which are able to be used. If there is an item you specifically need, it should be brought. We do not encourage renters to rely upon our stash of extra kitchen items, though they are useful in a pinch.

- The space is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with guidelines from local health authorities
- High touch surfaces and shared amenities have been disinfected
- Soft, porous materials have been properly cleaned or removed
- A licensed professional cleaner is hired between bookings
- Bookings are spaced apart to allow for enhanced cleaning
- Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
- Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
- Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.
- Remove garbage and add new lining to cans.

This place is one of a kind! The first time I saw the place I already fell in love and wanted to have my event there. The building is just beautiful with lots of parking! Christina is wonderful! She was such a pleasant host and accommodating. She made herself available and answered all my questions. My guests were so amazed with the beautiful venue. My joint birthday party was a success. We were able to fit 65 people! Everyone enjoyed and we had a memorable celebration.

This was a perfect venue to host a baby shower. It fit 50 adults and children comfortably. I imagine the outdoor section of the venue is perfect in the summertime.

This space was absolutely picturesque and amazing 🤩 🤩🤩. My guests were blown away and commented on the coziness, , warmth and how unique and quaint the space felt. The functioning fireplace was an added bonus. The view both day and night is breathtaking and serene. I will be giving this venue 5 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I hosted my Thanksgiving dinner party here and it was a home run. It’s perfect for any occasion. Christina was a doll and the rental process was a breeze. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you for helping to make my dinner party a very special and a memorable one.
