About the Space
Welcome to our new Kap2ure Studio @ The Baltimore Pumphouse in Broadway East. This studio features beautiful 12 foot arched windows that bathe our space in beautiful natural light. We are on the first floor with an access ramp to load your gear in and out. We have a Young Chang Grand piano that is gorgeous to play. A movable black wall to create different scenes as well as furniture props to use as you wish. We recommend this space for: Production Teams Portrait sessions Music videos Interviews Podcasts Small intimate gatherings Minimonies Micro Weddings Some history on our location : “This old pumping station was once a handsome, well-designed 1891 collection of brick structures, including stables, that housed a steam engine that pumped water from the Lake Montebello reservoir throughout the city via a circuitous network of huge pipes under York Road. The water eventually reached the Guilford Reservoir, from which it was distributed to homes via pipes. By 1928, this pump house was supplanted by newer electric pumps on Hillen Road. At some point, all of original architect’s Jackson Gott’s fancy tile roofs and dunce-cap like decorative towers got chopped off. The steam boiler chimney was destroyed, and the city’s street lighting operation moved here. It was also used to film the Cutty’s Gym scenes in “The Wire” before it became an unauthorized tire discard point.” Sourced from the Baltimore Sun

- Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
- Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
- Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.

I'm a photographer and brought my clients here for a luxury photoshoot experience. When we arrived the host wasn't there to greet us and let us in on time, though I let her know we were only a short distance away. My guests and I had to wait in the cold for her arrival. When she arrived, we greeted her and she did not say a word to the guests or me; she just passive-aggressively opened up the space for us. She seemed to have an attitude when I asked her questions about the space, such as where I could find the speaker and where the lights were in the space. Before she left, she told us not to mind the trash as the booking was last minute.... yet my clients still had to pay a $100 cleaning fee to have a space that was not clean. The space itself is nice, as I've worked there before without having contact or communication with the hosts. Maybe she was having an off day, I'm not sure but I would suggest the host work on her in-person customer service as she left a bitter impression on guests paying good money for a pleasant experience.
