Less than two hours drive from LA, you will feel on another planet with our private, stunning 80 acres bordering Tomo-Kahni State Preserve and Park. This Carl Day designed marvel is an architectural stunner that sits perched over Sand Canyon with an epic backdrop of shear mountain filled with caves, lush colorful boulders and vegetation. Enter the home through one of the many signature glass and wood doors that encircle three sides of the home - creating an almost translucent effect, letting in magic hour light and views from every space in this loft-like home. Welcomed by a designer chefs kitchen that opens to a living room with stone fireplace, cozy study, and into our star - the Atrium. The atrium features a chic "pond" with waterfall, fountain and tropical plants as well as a spectacular massive ceiling of steel and glass. Massive glass doors stackable to open up to the sexy master bedroom, with midcentury modern furnishings and one of 3 massive stone fireplaces. This romantic bedroom enjoys views of the sunset as does the ensuite with large windows that open in the shower - a very sexy place to shoot at sunset. A "concrete fortress, concrete flooring can be found in the nearly 2600 sq foot first floor, outside wrap around deck, as well as concrete walls in master, atrium, and kitchen. Across from the atrium, across a hallway, we have a massive open loft living room with jewel tone furnishings, plenty of space to get creative, massive stone fireplace, and of course, glass doors to take in those mountain/canyon views. A second bedroom with its high ceilings is also on the first floor and has a built in desk and luxe bed. A bomb shelter runs the length of the back of the house, is underground, all concrete and steel. Climb the industrial metal staircase to the second floor loft area to find another small bedroom and bath as well as dedicated work space with loads of storage, desks, and chairs. This workspace loft area overlooks the large living room. Keep climbing to our cupola with 4 walls of windows and the 360 birds-eye view. Need the space to be dark? We have steel storm doors on the deck that roll down and make it nearly black out dark inside and also control the sound of wind. In addition to the private park-like land, and house, we also have a large studio with 1800 sq feet of space, 2 roll up bays, and an empty barn with coral, turnouts, and bunk room with 3/4 bath. Several level rustic campsites can also be found around the land. Known as the land of four seasons, Tehachapi gets all the weather, including snow, and at 4400 feet, we enjoy the change of seasons and landscape, but mostly sunny mild days, and cool evenings. We have biodiversity at its finest, with iconic bird watching and song, coyote sightings, bear, deer, and wild donkey. Juniper trees dot the rolling hills while sage, and Ephedra abound on our rugged trails that wind through the property. I challenge you to pick your favorite part of the day - sunrise yoga in the big living room or coffee in the study will start your day with unbelievably golden rays, afternoons are lovely, sunset is an event, and the dark wide open sky filled with stars is remarkable. Incredible craftsmanship has gone into this home, the land and backdrop and estate are a masterpiece with no bad angle, and did we mention the archeological and geological hot bed this place is? We have multiple Kawaisu mortar rocks, one large one in particular overlooking a dry waterfall covered in neon lichen. The brave and fit can climb to our caves and explore this historically rich and sacred land. Driveway in is very steep and a rough dirt road but any car can handle it. Load in here is so easy as the driveway to inside the house is all level concrete. Our trails are suited for 4wd low clearance vehicles. Stays are available for small crews in house and soon we will offer an awesome “Glamping” teepee stargazer tent as a location as well.
