We hope to help you have a successful event. The Congregational Church of San Mateo ("CCSM") considers our buildings and their furnishings a precious gift from the past and an asset for the future. This is our sacred space inspiring the following guidelines: 1) Users must complete our Facilities Use Agreement and Hold Harmless Agreement. Our event coordinator will gladly provide a copy of the agreements prior to booking upon request. The Facilities Use Agreement covers many of the items listed below. In the case of any conflict, the language of the Facilities Use Agreement supersedes the language found here. 2) A security deposit of $250 is required. The security deposit will be refunded seven to ten days after the event if the facilities and furnishings are returned in the pre-rental state. 3) Booking through Peerspace provides the "host" (us: The Congregational Church of San Mateo) with liability insurance in addition to our business liability insurance. Peerspace does not provide the "guest" (you: the client person and/or organization) with liability insurance. If you (or your organization) do not already have liability insurance to protect you, Peerspace's FAQ suggests two easy ways to instantly acquire "guest" liability insurance at low rates for only the time period required: see either https://TheEventHelper.com or https://www.thimble.com/peerspace . All events require you (the “guest”) to provide to us (the “host”) a Certificate of Insurance showing the minimum required liability coverage of $1 million and including “Damage to Rented Premises” coverage of at least $50,000. The Congregational Church of San Mateo must also be listed as an “additional insured”. 4) CCSM does not have a liquor liability insurance policy. For events including alcohol you (the “guest”) must provide to us (the “host”) a Certificate of Insurance showing the minimum required liability coverage of $3 million with an additional clause covering alcohol liability and including “Damage to Rented Premises” of at least $50,000. The Congregational Church of San Mateo must also be listed as an “additional insured”. If you do not already have the required insurance limits, they can be obtained at either https://TheEventHelper.com or https://www.thimble.com/peerspace. Client bears the responsibility to make sure minors do not have access to alcohol during the Event or while on CCSM premises. Alcohol consumption will be limited to beer, wine, and champagne; no hard liquor allowed. 5) Third-party Vendors must arrange for rental delivery and pick-up through the Event Coordinator. CCSM assumes no responsibility for any loss of or damage to these items. 6) All set up and breakdown must be done within the specified time block. All decorations installed must be removed within the specified time block. 7) Smoking is not allowed on the premises. 8) The client is to return the facility in the pre-rental condition. The client will place trash in receptacles. If the receptacles become full, the client will empty them in the outside dumpsters. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability CCSM has implemented a recycling program. The client will place recyclable materials in the appropriate containers located inside and outside. The client is to return furnishings as they were found. Do not use nails or other fasteners (for decorations, etc.). Tape, if later removed, is acceptable. NO PINATAS please. 9) Clients shall provide adequate supervision of youth under the age of 18 at all times. Playground equipment is off-limits. 10) Consumable supplies, with the exception of toilet supplies, are reserved for church use. Clients will provide their own supplies. 11) Client will report to Event Coordinator anything broken and Client will be responsible for replacement cost of breakage resulting from the event or caused by the client. Anything malfunctioning will be reported by Client. 12) A noise curfew is in effect between 10:00pm and 8:00am. There shall be no loud noise or music that is disrespectful to the neighborhood at any time. 13) CCSM reserves the right to limit facility rentals to Events that are consistent with our Guiding Principles listed at https://ccsm-ucc.org/about. The Client shall inform CCSM of the nature and purpose of the use of the Facilities, the number of persons expected to attend, and such other information relating to the occasion.
