A Preschool that is a unique space in many ways. In addition to the fully functional preschool (3 classrooms, kitchen area, 2 open multi-purpose rooms), there is a large, tree-filled mixed use playground in the backyard. Additionally, as welcomes any visitor from the street, is a 2250 sq. ft farm and garden area, including a greenhouse, upper deck with retractable awning and varied planting areas with vegetables and fruit trees depending on the season.
The brick building is a Sanford White design, built in 1905 as the second Carnegie library in the Bronx. It served as the community library until 1962. Some of the original library features are still visible. We have maintained the building inside and out with respect to the original architecture, but accommodating the current needs of our preschool. In every way our space is a gem to the neighborhood.
