About Palm Lodge

A historically designated property in the Redland district, is an Old Florida Wood Frame Vernacular House & Tropical Garden with all of its original bells and whistles and old world charm everywhere you look. The 2-Story house features expansive porch, high ceiling foyer and clever use of internal doors to make the spaces expansive or intimate as the occasion calls for. This magical property from a bygone era began with an incredible story about the fabulous Colonel Henry Johnston Wallace from Kentucky who was known as the Wizard of Palm Lodge Grove for his ability to cultivate over 8,000 incredible specimens of tropical fruits and flowers - many not found anywhere else in America.   This tropical oasis features colorful butterfly gardens that were claimed to have been planted by one of South Florida’s famous founding fathers, David Fairchild who was an honorary pallbearer at Colonel Henry’s funeral.  Once you enter the property, you’re transported back to a simpler time on two acres of a glorious paradise whose stellar secret gardens showcase its grand dame: Palm Lodge. The Old Florida inspired décor at Palm lodge is intended to transport you back 100 years by combining some of the original dark wood furniture left behind at the home, vintage white wicker accents and a deliberate and consistent tropical color palette of pink, white and green. We wanted Palm Lodge to reflect the spirit and soul of an Old Florida country farm house and to embrace the tropical colors of the Sunshine state.   The property’s verdant gardens are also filled with hundreds of rare botanical specimens, orchids, and fruits.  You’ll also find tall palms of all types, two Banyan trees, an African baobab tree and several massive Kapok trees with Pink Flowers.    It's truly a horticultural dream!  This historic estate feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city, providing a perfect location for film/photo shoots, small events, retreats, wellness and yoga retreats, corporate meetings, family gatherings and more.  We look forward to welcoming you and your family or group to this historical florida home.
