About the Space

Formerly an abandoned shade flower nursery, our farm is an oasis of beauty, with nooks and crannies and citrus and avocados and flowers everywhere. Just 7 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, 6 minutes from the beach, its designer and farmer live on the farm, and loves having people over who appreciate the hidden pathways, found art, gorgeous trees and the picnic tables and meeting places that are sculpted into the landscape. The property is sloped, with a 100' rise to the Australian Grevillea, with several large terraces for passion fruit, hoop houses and shade houses, both beneath the oak grove and in the sun. Bordered by a city park, in a quiet, hidden residential neighborhood, you'll find the true meaning of serenity and awe, righ in front of you The whole property-- greenhouses, hoophouses, toolshed, avocado and citrus groves, lavender plantings, culinary herb gardens, purple gardens, stone fruit orchards, pollenator meadow, vineyard,, plumeria stands--are accessible during your booking along with a free standing bathroom. A second first level bathroom and a simple kitchen with a microwave, and a changing area are also accessible. Public transportation is .75 mile away; Uber and Lyft are available. There are 2 picnic tables, seating 8 and 12 each, and a shade house with redwood pallets that seats 40. We don't have additional tables and chairs. Access through the property is by a single lane asphalt extended driveway, and with pathways. We have standard variable rates, based on the day of the week, time of day, and number of attendees: see the calendar and attendee pricing features. We've been proud to share this dynamic biodiverse phenomenon with local chefs, winemakers, food entrepreneurs, caterers, chocolatiers, horticultural societies and bachelorette parties. Santa Barbara City College and the University of California at Santa Barbara have both sent groups to visit and arrange classes and expeditions. The Executive Director of Lotusland, Rebecca Anderson, has called it "A Lotusland for Food"-- high compliments! We hope you'll be the next to enjoy this very special, very biodiverse orchard and farm.
