This Echo Park Lakeside Cabin, designed by Matt Gaillet, is a unique, modest, one bedroom, stand alone house surrounded on all sides by ancient eucalyptus, pine, fir, and fruit trees. The kitchen is light bright galley kitchen in an eclectic farmhouse style, with a pine countertop, almond tile backsplash, antique white enamel sink, teal cabinets, a vintage stove, a small vintage style refrigerator, and a peekaboo window adorned with large white tile and vintage hand painted talavera tile that looks out on the living room, and to the hills beyond. The living room is styled in a granny-chic with black and white checkered floor, 60s original floral print couch, and wicker chairs flanked by cat palm and fiddle leaf fig. The front door is hand painted with a repeating floral pattern, and leads out to a deck that looks out over Echo Park lake with panoramic views of the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, and the Verdugo hills. Below the deck is a modest yard that is mostly vines, dirt, and leaves with an overgrown fence, and the trunks of eucalyptus growing seemingly out of the foundation. Under the deck is a great area to stage gear and carts. Back inside, the bedroom has a large wooden checkerboard floor with alternating white and natural grain. The bathroom is vintage floral wall paper and almond tile with vintage fixtures and two walnut shelves perfect for showcasing product. The entire house receives an enormous amount of natural light, and is sparsely decorated with vintage furniture, plants, and cleared art.
