Native prairie, a winding slow river, two ponds, 200+-year-old oaks & big sky- Countless places to curl up, gather, and focus-- nooks and crannies indoors and out, we offer “time out for time in” amidst this noisy world. Minutes from 2 small towns, all amenities, we're all about peace & ease-- let us custom curate your experience! Hackmatack Retreat Center is located in Richmond, IL, minutes from the Wisconsin border sitting on almost 30 acres of protected land in the Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge. The land is native prairie with a winding slow river, two ponds, 200+-year-old oaks, and a big sky. With countless places to curl up and write, gathering spaces for group work, and writing nooks and crannies indoors and out, Hackmatack Retreat seeks to offer “time out for time in” amidst this noisy world. There is a typical cozy family room on the lower level equipped with a smart TV and two beautiful bedrooms with queen beds. The family room also has a portioned twin XL, in case you’re traveling with a larger group. The upstairs is the ideal entertainment or retreat space, open and easily fitting 20 people for various events and gatherings. The kitchen is open and ideal for entertaining and serving. Our space is versatile and yours to use however you can imagine!

I am a firm believer that wedding days should come with a photographer that takes stress off your plate rather than adding to it, that family and portrait sessions should be fun - not stressful, and that newborn sessions should be beautiful and safe! I promise you that you will only here me say “cheese” during your family’s session if your kids just asked me what my favorite food is. You also won’t see me get frustrated or impatient with your newborn who may not want to immediately settle for me. That’s so normal, and completely okay. If anything, it’s to be expected! As a mom, I understand that kids (and babies) need to have the space to be themselves in order to get the best shot. Health and Safety Measures

The space is thoroughly cleaned between bookings. Please leave the space in reasonably clean condition and pick up after yourself. The cleaner will wipe down all surfaces and dispose of all bagged trash upon check out.

Cancellation Policy

Standard 30 day

Guests may cancel their Booking until 30 days before the event start time and will receive a full refund (including all Fees) of their Booking Price. Guests may cancel their Booking between 30 days and 7 days before the event start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their Booking Price. Cancellations submitted less than 7 days before the Event start time are not refundable. Learn more
All Bookings are subject to Peerspace’s Grace Period policy which provides a full refund for Bookings cancelled within 24 hours from receipt of a Booking Confirmation but no later than 48 hours prior to the Event start time.
