If you’re looking for the Texas version of “Yellowstone” this is it. The first thing to know about this exquisite property is that it’s a 5th-generation working Cattle ranch. Hidden at the heart of this property sits an expansive stone lodge and several log cabins overlooking a 12-acre lake. Many things make this property unique to other ranches, one being that every stone used in the building of this ranch was original to the property itself. There are no faux beams or stone veneers. Every piece was once hand-quarried or chiseled giving this ranch a uniquely authentic and elegant old-world beauty. There are also many other areas of note necessary to a working Texas cattle ranch and potential production spaces. Of the many structures found on the property, there are several very old cattle barns, a newer horse barn, 2 massive metal barns used for hay, an old treehouse, and our equipment and tractor barn. There are also several corrals, a newer iron one that is actively used today, and even some old wood ones from when my great-grandfather ran cattle. On the southwest side of the ranch sits the original camp house my great-grandparents began in. Likely built during the Great Depression this tiny wood camp house has one bedroom with a tiny working bathroom (toilet, sink, and clawfoot tub) and the other room that acted as the living room/kitchen. It is very dated but structurally sound. (currently being resided in by an older carpenter.) Behind it sits an even older farmhouse that has slowly fallen apart. In terms of the land, there is quite an array of diverse topography found on this property. Lakes, rivers, creeks, thick untouched forest land and pastures. One area of note is The Overlook. It's our version of Pride Rock in that it’s the highest point in the county and a large stone mount from which you can get a panoramic view for miles. On the top of The Overlook is a large stone bonfire pit surrounded by large oak logs to sit on. It’s a remarkable view at sunset and even more magical under the stars at night. There are also some very picturesque stone-bottom natural springs, wetlands, and even some modest river gorges. (30-50’ drops). Of the non-native animals found on the property, there are cattle, horses, chickens, and a longhorn. In summary, this beautiful property boasts multifaceted storytelling potential and the real authenticity of a true Texas Legacy Ranch. ***as this is a working ranch, we do have a ranch-hand house that is off limits, as well as the original wood camp house (described above) that currently has a tenant.
