Our space works well for live events of all kinds that welcome 150 guests (standing room with booths and chairs along the walls) or up to 75 seated guests. Logistics If your event consists of 40 people or less, then all guests can be comfortably seated in our front, cafe area (which is adjacent to our bar and kitchen). The cafe space is open to the back venue space, divided only by a countertop. The venue space encompasses a 20' x 30' dance floor that faces a 10' x 20' stage with professional sound and lighting systems. We have moveable tables and chairs available for use in both the cafe and venue space, and thus are happy to host both seated concerts and live dance events. Access There are two ADA bathrooms in the front of the building, which is accessible and level with the sidewalk that runs north - south along Rainier Avenue South. Guests enter the front of the building, that faces Rainier Ave. The Number 7 bus stop is a half a block south of our building, and free street parking is available in all directions. Booking Rates Deposit and rental rates are negotiable for our venue, and will be calculated based on the types of uses intended by the renter. History of Our Hall The building is owned by a community cooperative business, Black & Tan Hall Cooperative, which consists of 22 co-owners, the majority of whom live locally. Founded in 2016, our organization is a Black-led, multi-cultural coalition dedicated to combatting gentrification by providing a path to ownership for local people living at high risk of displacement. Safety Some events, for various reasons (including, but not limited to, crowd size, number of volunteers, the complexity of set-up, presence of children, serving of alcohol) require additional event oversight or security personnel. The Hall may, at its sole option, require security guards, additional event managers, and added security deposit, at Renter’s expense. The Hall reserves the right to delay the opening of any event in the case that the Premises are not deemed safe or appropriate for public admission. The Hall reserves the right to temporarily halt the admission of patrons to any event if The Hall believes capacity for the event has exceeded safe management of the Premises. Overage Rate If a renter exceeds the time defined in their agreement, they will be charged $250 per additional hour.
