1978 architect-designed post + beam in the mountains of western Maine.

This is a unique 1978 post + beam mountain home designed by New England architect Stephen Blatt. The home is in the ski + mountain town of Bethel, ME, and is nestled in 2 acres of pine forest. We call it Olla House. There are two parts to the home: an attached MIL apartment and the main part of the house. The apartment is an add-on to the booking and is newly renovated. It could serve as an overnight sleeping space, hospitality area, or dressing area. The apartment is usually an airbnb space - we will make sure there aren't guests in the apartment during your booking, regardless of whether you book both spaces. The main part of the house is relatively untouched - we will be renovating it in the coming months with a light touch to retain the fabulous 70s character. Olla House sits on Bethel Hill and there are stunning views of the mountains 150 feet down the road. There are also 2 acres of pine forest surrounding the house that could be available depending on use and how you plan to access it (ie, no heavy machinery). The soaring ceilings in the main house are about 13 feet tall, and there is an enormous deck that runs the entire south side of the property. The house is built for solar gain and the numerous windows you see are all south facing. It gets very warm (and bright) during the day in the winter when the blinds are up. The blinds currently in place are primarily light-filtering.
