History of the Space Nestled next door to the beloved AhbA, Helen’s is a speakeasy steeped in history and charm. The space began as a humble beachside cottage, built in the late 1950s. By the late 1970s, it transformed into the headquarters of a local engineering firm, owned by none other than Helen, a respected figure in the community. Hidden within the firm was an unsuspected gem—a fully equipped bar—waiting to be rediscovered. In 2020, AhbA saw the potential to breathe new life into the space and honor its history. Today, Helen’s serves as a vibrant extension of AhbA, offering a unique event space, bar, and additional dining seating, all while paying tribute to the woman who gave the space its name. What’s Around the Space Situated in South Laguna Beach, Helen’s embodies the distinctive charm of this quiet yet vibrant neighborhood.
