Built in the early 60s by Homer Valentine, Halm Home's mid-century details have been tastefully preserved and updated by the award-winning, LA-based firm, Social Studies Projects. The kitchen, shared living spaces and outdoor garden have been used for cookbook and film shoots for companies like Netflix, Vuori, Clarkson Potter (Penguin Random House), VOX Media, Masienda and Smalls. The kitchen was built and designed for a James Beard Award-winning culinary creative and features a 6-burner Wolf Range, SubZero refrigerator/freezer, professional stainless sink/faucet, Reform cabinetry and state-of-the-art lighting. Furnishings include an original Saarinen tulip dining table, Knoll Cesca dining chairs, Hay sofa with custom pillows, Yamaha grand piano and vintage furniture pieces. Flooring and surface textures include original terrazzo, cork, onyx and tile. Designed by Hyperlocal Studio, the outdoor garden covers the remainder of the 10,000 sq ft lot and includes a Corten steel gas fire pit and Fritz Hansen deck chairs, an elevated dining area with bistro lighting, gas grill, a raised garden bed and covered patio area.
