Orinda: Spacious, mid-century home

Light-filled North Berkeley Victorian home with 12-foot ceilings, a custom-designed 7-foot arch window in the front living room, expansive dining space, and a large, recently renovated modern and lush backyard with a variety of plants and trees (avocado, lemon and olive trees; agave, aloe, and banana plants). The bright home showcases seamless indoor-outdoor living, creating beautiful, natural light in every space.

Located in one of the most coveted and centrally located neighborhoods in Berkeley, the home is within walking distance to the commercial areas of Downtown Berkeley and the Gourmet Ghetto, with easy access to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, BART, freeways, UC Berkeley and more.

The house has a modern, Scandinavian style with pops of color, including a wall-hanging vintage Turkish rug and natural materials used throughout (jute and sheepskin rugs, wood stools, etc.). Thoughtful, modern updates compliment classic detailing, including an electric fireplace with a striking blue tile fireplace surround and new double-pane windows. The guest bathroom features a clawfoot tub, mustard velvet curtains, and marble floors; the home also has original hardwood floors, custom crown molding, and vintage chandeliers.

The downstairs basement studio has a separate entrance and features a kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, and a small stage. The studio requires extra lighting but is an excellent industrial space to use for shoots, staging, extra storage, or dressing areas.

The spaces available to rent for shoots include the entire first floor of the home (expansive living room, kitchen/dining area, and bathroom), the outdoor space, and the downstairs basement studio. The upstairs space is not included in the listing but can be discussed with the owner (features include exposed white wood beams and incredible natural light from multiple skylights).

Ideal for photography and video shoots (magazine shoots, lifestyle shoots, food and still life, portraits, video, film sets, podcasts, interviews, product shoots, and social media content), as well as small gatherings and meetings/co-working.
