The best meeting icebreakers help attendees relax and loosen up without being too awkward. We've all been forced to suffer through a truly cringe-worthy icebreaker at some point or another, right? A good icebreaker should be short, low-stakes, and help the group grow just a little bit closer. Our favorite icebreakers for online meetings include "Meet the Pet"—which is exactly what it sounds like—and "Show Us Your Phone," in which everyone is asked to share the funniest photo they can find on their phone camera. For in-person icebreakers, the classic "Two Truths and a Lie" is always a hit. If you pick a creative local meeting space, try to incorporate the venue into your icebreaker! For some more in-depth ideas, check out our round-up of 12 Creative Icebreaker Ideas for Your Next Meeting.
How to conduct a meeting comes down to having clear objectives and sticking to the agenda. The primary purposes of a meeting are to share information and to collaborate with participants. To that end, have a written agenda for your meeting—at least an informal schedule of the key points you need to address. Engage your participants, and give them the opportunity to ask questions and offer input. Delegate responsibilities and establish clear action items for everyone going beyond the meeting. If you want to really take your meeting skills to the next level, check out these awesome tips and tricks for hosting meetings.
Whether it's an offsite work meeting, a creative brainstorming session, or a meeting with a client, booking a local meeting room can add some extra "wow" factor to your meeting. First, try browsing creative, unique meeting rooms in your area right here on Peerspace. Chances are good that there are some perfect options right in your local area. Second, look into local co-working spaces. Co-working spaces often have meeting rooms you can rent by the hour. Larger coffee shops and hotels sometimes have conference rooms available as well; those these aren't quite as stimulating for your attendees. If you can, choose a space that creates a productive, creative vibe for your attendees—the atmosphere will be more conducive to getting great work done.
Whether in person or online, scheduling a meeting is as simple as getting the right people in the same place at the same time. First, decide if your meeting will be in-person or digital. If you're scheduling a meeting via Zoom or another video meeting service, you can create a meeting from within the app, then add e-mail addresses of participants to automatically invite—piece of cake! If you're meeting in person, decide where your meeting will take place. (You can browse awesome local meeting spaces that make a strong impression right here on Peerspace.) Write up an email invitation with the location, date, time, and reason for the meeting, and send it to your participants.
