Tinseltown has come a long way since the days when anybody who was anybody had a drink in hand. As younger generations prioritize health over alcohol, zero-proof cocktails and nonalcoholic beer are having a moment.

Whether you’re prioritizing your health, you’re in recovery or you just don’t like the way drinking makes you feel, we’ve compiled some of the best booze-free experiences in Los Angeles so you can have a night out sans alcohol.

1. Kavahana

When: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: 1603 N. La Brea Ave., Hollywood

Price: A la carte

The experience: In addition to light bites, Kavahana serves up a variety of drinks using kava, a South Pacific plant whose roots are ground and mixed with water to create kava nectar. It offers an alternative to alcohol that has a relaxing effect and creates a mild, euphoric, and sedative feel. Visitors to the shop can opt for plain kava nectar or order it mixed in a number of coffee and juice-style beverages, all of which are totally Instagrammable. Because it’s open later than most other coffee shops, it’s a great spot for a nighttime tipple.

Other key info: This is a walk-in establishment that doesn’t take reservations. The Hollywood location has free parking out front. Wi-Fi and a dog-friendly outdoor patio are also available.
