If you’re seeking a space for a hotel room photoshoot in San Diego, we’ve got you covered. Here’s our list of 12 spots that capture that hotel/motel vibe, all available for hourly rental via Peerspace, the internet’s largest marketplace for hourly event venue rentals. That way, you don’t have to go to the trouble or expense of renting a hotel room overnight!
1. Mindful minimalist micro hotel

Anyone who’s into the minimalist aesthetic will adore this micro hotel! The host has done an incredibly thorough job, thinking through every detail with care and a clear passion for design. As she describes it: “Inspired by Balinese and Japanese architecture, the hotel is the product of multiple architects hailing from Canada, Zimbabwe, and Brazil. Intended to harmonize the twelve human senses according to Rudolf Steiner’s theory, including those lesser-known, like temperature and balance, the micro-hotel is itself a study in design as an equilibrium of self, space, and earth.” What a unique, gorgeous location for a hotel room photoshoot in San Diego!
2. Funky vintage Spanish apartment in the sky

If you’d rather your hotel room photoshoot in San Diego feel like it was shot at a funky hotel, this vintage Spanish apartment totally captures that feeling while also offering views of the bay, downtown, and airplane tarmac. The home’s two bedrooms in particular feel like rooms at a cool B&B, and when you’re lying on either of the beds, you can literally watch the airplanes land! The host is also the owner of a vintage clothing and home decor store as well as a wardrobe styling company, so she’ll provide full styling for your photoshoot for an additional fee.
3. Spacious Boulder Groves resort

Here’s a totally different kind of hotel room photoshoot in San Diego: this Boulder Groves resort that’ll make you feel like you’re staying at a luxurious resort hotel. Every inch of this hilltop estate home–which is situated on a massive granite boulder on 20 acres and surrounded by boulder pools–absolutely screams resort-style luxury. And your photos will benefit enormously from the 360-degree views from around the home and property.
4. Perfect production estate w/ dramatic lake views

Another resort-style hotel room photoshoot possibility, this 2400-square-foot estate home on five acres has so much to offer. There’s a main house, hilltop gazebo, two (!) cozy cabins (if you’d like to feel like you’re taking photos at a more rustic hotel as well), an infinity-edge pool, a spa, and even a helipad! Instead of paying for a stay at a high-end resort to capture your photos, consider this production estate.
5. The Disco Church

The Disco Church has funky vibes for days, and its “eclectic disco meets mid century modern tropical” style won it “Home of the Year” from San Diego Home & Garden 1986. Whether you’re drawn to the abundance of natural light, the neon signs and quirky art throughout the space, the dreamy bedroom with handmade clouds (check out the photos in the listing to see these!), or any of the other quirky and colorful features of the home, your photoshoot here will be an absolute winner and the photos will feel like they were taken at the world’s coolest bed and breakfast.
6. Funky art haven by the beach

Another funky space, this art haven has to be seen to be believed, so be sure to take a look at the listing’s photos. Strictly speaking, we’d say that this space feels like an ultra-cool hotel lobby, with all kinds of interesting decor. As the hosts describe: “The space has many art installations ready for photos, videos, workshops, and events! There’s also a large space with lighting equipment, projectors, green and white screens. We have professional videographers and photographers that can be involved in the process if requested.”
7. Funky Victorian with art house vibes

Each of the two bedrooms in this two-story, funky Victorian home gives off major B&B vibes. But we’ll let the more than 60 glowing reviews speak for themselves. One reviewer commented: “I booked this venue to use for my boudoir photoshoot. It was absolutely perfect! We used three of the rooms and a portion of the hallway for my photos and they all provided a creative backdrop for each of the looks I was going for. Although we only used a few, the house offers dozens of areas/ backdrops for photos or videos. Erica was so nice, welcoming, and responsive. I would highly recommend this space and may even consider using it again.”
8. Rad new vintage trailer with yard

One of the most popular motel aesthetics is the retro motel. This vintage trailer known as “Miss Ruby Red” embodies that aesthetic to the max, so it’s definitely worth considering for your photoshoot. It may be a trailer, but it’s been renovated recently and is incredibly comfortable so you won’t have to sacrifice anything to enjoy the incredible retro vibes.
9. Funky, chic, boho home

Another funky yet utterly chic space, this boho home “has an eclectic and natural vibe with a clever mix of textiles and decor. Areas available for use are the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast nook which are all beautifully decorated with lots of lush greenery.” For your hotel room photoshoot, you’ll probably want to focus on the beautiful bedrooms, but the sky’s the limit at this house.
10. Beautiful industrial loft space

This industrial loft space leans toward the more gritty side of things while still maintaining a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere. “This loft is a beautiful, vintage loft space located in San Diego’s East Village neighborhood. Housed within the historic Carnation Dairy building, this loft has a high arched barrel roof and unmatched wall textures.”
11. Urban treehouse – rustic penthouse with bay views

You’ll love hanging out and snapping photos in this rustic Little Italy penthouse with views of the bay. To quote one happy reviewer: “Stephanie and her space was great. It was precisely what we were looking for. She was more than accommodating. She made a long day of shooting easier. I would love to shoot in this space again. The space was clean, bright, modern and was easy to modify for our specific needs.”
11. Oceanfront modern villa

This 2,600-square-foot oceanfront modern villa truly embodies the feel of a beachfront resort, with three large bedrooms that all have the luxurious vibe of a hotel. But rather than just one hotel room in which to photograph, you’ll have three to choose from! “Spacious, clean, and elegant,” it’s a winning choice when it comes to hotel photoshoots in San Diego.
