Planning a bridal shower is all about celebrating and spoiling the bride-to-be, so pull out all the stops and get creative! Start with the guest list, coming up with a ballpark figure for how many people you expect to attend. Next, browse gorgeous and unique bridal shower venues near you to see what options you have. When the basics are locked down, you can plan out how you'll decorate, what food and drink you'll serve, and what bridal shower games you want to play. We've got tips and tricks for hosting a bridal shower available to get the inspiration flowing.
Bridal showers are usually between 2 and 4 hours long. They typically take place in the late morning or early afternoon. Allow the first 30 minutes or so for guests to arrive and settle in. Guests will probably spend the next hour or so eating, drinking, and socializing. The second half of the bridal shower is then traditionally reserved for opening gifts, playing games, and other pre-planned activities. Get creative with your ideas and keep in mind what your particular group of guests will enjoy.
Bridal showers should be held 1 to 3 months before the wedding date. Dates outside that range aren't too unusual, but the 1-3 month range is ideal. This allows for some flexibility in scheduling your bridal shower venue. It's close enough to the wedding to help build excitement for the big day but not so close that guests are overwhelmed by the festivities.
There's no one right answer for the number of guests you should invite to a bridal shower. Smaller bridal showers can be intimate, while larger bridal showers will tend to feel more festive and upbeat. The size of your bridal shower venue may help you decide what's appropriate. What's really important is knowing who to invite. Traditionally, you should invite bridesmaids, close family members from both sides of the family, and close friends. A major faux pas to avoid is inviting anyone who isn't also invited to the wedding.
