Top 5 Baby Photographers in the UK

Source: Peerspace
The first weeks with a baby pass quickly, and most newborn photographers prefer to work in the first two to three weeks. Some parents want a calm studio session with wraps and props. Others want relaxed pictures at home, in the rooms where the baby’s first months actually happen.
We looked at baby photographers across the UK and picked five whose prices and credentials we could check against a source. They work from London to Edinburgh, with a studio in the Midlands, and all five publish their prices.
How we created our list
Our goal is to connect you with photographers who have a proven track record of excellence and reliability. We vetted the best photographers based on a set of criteria:
- Portfolio depth: We look at the full body of work behind each photographer, not just a handful of standout images, to get a true sense of consistency and skill.
- Client reviews across multiple platforms: We analyze feedback from clients on Google, popular booking platforms, and social media to ensure consistent satisfaction.
- Industry recognition and awards: We look for photographers with accolades from respected organizations and industry bodies relevant to their specialty, whether that’s weddings, commercial work, or beyond.
- Professional credentials and associations: Active membership in industry groups, relevant certifications, and verified business operations, including appropriate insurance for working in the city, are often held by our photographers.

An at-home newborn session is also £495, with 20 to 50 images, a keepsake film and a 10 x 8 print. Booking before your baby arrives saves £50.

4. Hannah Larkin Photography

Photographer: Hannah Larkin, based in London with a base in Northumberland
Speciality: Relaxed, storytelling newborn, baby, maternity and family photography at home or outdoors, alongside weddings.
Notable work: Hannah has run her photography business for more than a decade. She photographs families at home, where everyone is relaxed, or joins them on an outdoor adventure. Her at-home newborn sessions capture tiny details and the everyday moments of the early weeks, and several families have booked her again as their children have grown.
Pricing: Family, newborn, baby and maternity sessions start at £450, with an online gallery and the edited high-resolution files included. Sessions last up to two hours, or up to three for a newborn shoot.
Why we rate her: One family wrote that she captured “so many facets” of their baby girl’s personality, and another said a small London home was no obstacle. Her documentary style suits parents who want honest pictures rather than posed ones.

5. Helen Bartlett Photography

Photographer: Helen Bartlett, based in Crouch End, North London, and travelling across the UK

Notable work: Helen has photographed newborns and families since 2003 and has been a Canon Ambassador since 2018. She spoke about family photography on the Canon stage at The Photography Show at the Birmingham NEC in 2026, and she has been profiled in Digital Camera Magazine, PhotoPlus and Photo Pro. She also teaches other professional newborn, baby and family photographers.
Pricing: The session fee for an on-location shoot in London is £550 on weekdays and £650 at weekends and on bank holidays. Travel elsewhere in the UK carries an extra charge and a minimum spend. Prints and products are bought separately: albums start at £1,450, framed fine art prints at £395, and the complete set of digital files is £1,750. All the processed digital files are included free with orders over £1,995, and prices include VAT.
Why we rate her: She works only in black and white, so the pictures will not date with colour trends. She does one shoot a day, which gives a newborn session the whole morning it may need.

Finding the right baby photographer

A baby photographer’s portfolio shows you how the pictures look. It does not tell you how the photographer handles a feed in the middle of a shoot, or what you will take home.
1. Decide between studio and home
Studio sessions give clean, calm backgrounds and lots of props. At-home sessions tell more of your family’s story in your own surroundings. All five photographers on this list will come to your home, and Hannah Larkin and Helen Bartlett work only at home or on location.
2. Ask about safety and training
Newborns need gentle, safe posing and a warm room. Armands Sprogis holds a qualification in newborn photography safety, so ask any photographer how they handle feeds and positioning.
3. Book early
Newborn photos are usually taken in the first few weeks, so book during pregnancy and confirm the date once your baby arrives. Dorte Kjaerulff gives £50 off when you book before your baby is born.
4. Understand what is included
Hannah Larkin includes the edited files in her price. Moments with Nadine and Helen Bartlett charge a session fee and sell images and products separately. Ask what you will take home.
5. Think about the whole first year
Many families book a newborn session and come back for a cake smash at the first birthday. Ask whether your photographer offers milestone sessions.
Planning a baby photoshoot

What it costs
Moments with Nadine charges a £95 session fee for family and milestone shoots and £145 for newborns, each with one image. A-Fotografy’s collections are £299 and £399, and Hannah Larkin’s sessions start at £450 with the edited files included. Dorte Kjaerulff’s newborn sessions are £495 and £695. Helen Bartlett’s session fee is £550 on weekdays and £650 at weekends, with products bought separately.
When to book a newborn session
Most newborn photographers prefer the first two to three weeks for sleepy, curled-up images. Hannah Larkin says the first three weeks are ideal, and A-Fotografy photographs newborns within the first four weeks. Older babies photograph beautifully too.
What to bring
Bring milk and plenty of nappies. If older siblings are coming, bring something to keep them busy. Studios usually provide wraps and props, but photographers who come to your home, such as Helen Bartlett, often work without them.
Prints and albums
A-Fotografy and Helen Bartlett both sell wall art and albums. Ask to see samples so you can plan where your pictures will live.
