Frequently Asked Questions

Are you looking to tell a romantic narrative about two lovers in the heart of Texas? Or perhaps you're looking to film a music video with an industrial urban edge to it? Both of these concepts and endless others have been brought to life here in Dallas. Especially in the downtown area, where you have access to all sorts of possible settings. Whether your story demands a quiet rooftop restaurant with glittering city lights framing the cast, happy hour at an elegant cocktail bar with historic significance, or something else entirely, you'll find it here. The outdoors are just as inviting in Dallas as well thanks to urban parks, street art, skyscrapers, and other elements. You can tell any sort of story you wish here in the Big D!
For a crucial scene in your movie set in a restaurant, it's tempting to build a set to match. But it might be faster, easier, and cheaper to rent space in a film-friendly restaurant instead! Many Dallas restaurants are decorated with elegance in mind; no need to find stone columns or fine china when your local Italian restaurant likely has them. You'll likely need to reserve the entire venue as a private event since there are legal issues with having public diners in the background of your film. That said, plenty of restaurants have film-friendly policies and will happily open their space to you.
Dallas mansions are some of the most elegant places to film in Texas. The buildings are often historic, with stories going back a century or more. Built as family homes and vacation places, many have since become museums or community centers. But a number of Dallas mansions are available for private events. Not just wedding parties or corporate gatherings, either. Renting a mansion for filming in Dallas is quite easy to do.
Mansion rentals typically run by the day, with discounts for weekly or monthly rental periods. They are found throughout the city, with most of the historic buildings located in or near downtown. As you get further out, you'll find buildings that are no less beautiful but were built later. Many of these mansions are now rented out as vacation homes - but with a bit of coordination with the home owners, there's no reason why you couldn't film a movie there instead!
