instagrammable places miami

There are places every Miami photographer shoots — those classic locations that everyone knows about — but many of Miami’s hottest Instagram backdrops are behind closed doors, hidden with a bit more subtlety. Our list of most Instagrammable places in Miami features museums and mansions, hotels and private villas, and street art galore. So put on Will Smith’s “Miami,” turn it up loud, and let’s get started. (Don’t worry. We won’t judge you.)

One picture alone doesn’t really do this place justice, and the sleek modern architecture of the exterior is just as Instagrammable as the interior décor. This villa also has a pool surrounded by lush palm trees, ensuring you can get all the poolside shots galore. When you’re here, you’re ‘gramming “the good life,” a genre of Instagram content as old as the app itself.

2. Faena

Faena is a luxury hotel with an art-deco vibe and decadence to spare. Poolside, the juxtaposition of the hotel’s red cabana stripe umbrellas and the perfect green of the surrounding palm trees make for a striking photograph. But the real star of the show is the gold mammoth in a glass case in the lobby area’s gardens. Not only is it a striking image, but the fact that it combines the shape of a long-extinct animal’s skeleton with a material so strongly associated with opulence gives the whole piece a gravity that’s hard to shake. Just like you didn’t scroll past this one, neither will your followers.

3. This intimate event lounge

This is one of those spaces designed to be easily molded to suit your purpose. All of the furniture is lightweight enough to be re-arranged or completely removed, converting the lounge into a completely open space. The West entrance has a garden feel to it, so there are some suitable outdoor shots to take, and since the venue is also an art gallery, there’s no shortage of Instagrammable beauty on the walls. If you want, you can even arrange to provide your own artwork to hang.

4. This epic private mansion

That’s right—it’s a private mansion, and for a time you can make it yours. Through that front door, there’s an elegant curved staircase, flanked by a grand piano and dazzling chandelier. The backyard features a hedge-lined half basketball court, pool, and Jacuzzi. The whole space is truly fit for a celebrity, so there are ample Instagram opportunities; it’s a place to live your best life and capture every minute of it.

5. Wynwood Walls

This is one of those classic Miami Instagram locations. Wynwood is best known for its colorful murals, especially those at Wynwood Walls, an open-air museum that features ambitious work from some of the world’s most well-known street artists. But Wynwood’s artistic energy is on display pretty much everywhere in the neighborhood, and not just on its walls. Funky bars and eateries, chic shops, and edgy galleries abound. Visit this place. You won’t regret it.

If you’re looking to really stage a proper photoshoot to create some professional Instagram content, this is the perfect place for it. It’s got a full-size cyclorama wall and serious lighting equipment to complement it. But before you or your models pose, everyone can get ready in the very cool and very retro makeup room. Between takes, there’s a loft lounge space overlooking the studio floor to watch from.

Everybody knows that A Miami Insta feed isn’t complete without a pool and sun-kissed glow. If you’re in the market for a private place to do some poolside ‘gramming, this is the spot. There’s also a photo-worthy private library here, and many of the trees in the backyard are fruit-bearing, including mangoes and coconuts.

Vizcaya is a 34-room mansion built in 1910, and every inch of it is Instagram-worthy. The mansion itself is surrounded by flawlessly manicured European-style gardens, and the whole property sits right along the water. Seriously, check out Instagram photos tagged from this location, and you’ll see a pretty dizzying number of different kinds of shots you can capture all in this one place. Don’t forget to recreate the classic shot looking straight down the center of the marble spiral staircase near the café area.

This multi-purpose urban oasis has enough going on to keep your phone camera busy for hours. It’s full of clean lines and lovely textures to provide the perfect photo backdrop, as well as ample windows to take full advantage of that shining South Florida sunlight. As a quirky bonus, the space has automatic disco lights, so if you’re planning a particularly Instagrammable event, make sure to take full advantage.

10. The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is a world-class museum, aquarium, and planetarium. Some of the rarest sights in the world are curated here for your personal amazement — and photography. In fact, the museum is so Instagrammable that the organization itself publishes its own lists of the best selfie spots on the premises. Without a doubt, the most famous Instagram location is at The Oculus, a giant circular window beneath a shark-filled aquarium.

11. This incredible raw space / open-air venue

World-renowned Swiss architectural firm Herzog and de Meuron created a piece of Miami design history when they revamped this modernist parking structure. It sits seven stories above Lincoln Road, offering breathtaking views of the city in every direction, and at 25,000 square feet, it hosts events for as many as 700 people. Weddings, fashion shows, luxury car exhibitions, and exclusive events have all come to life in this space, though the staff prefers to say they “don’t host parties, but produce once-in-a-lifetime experiences.” Look for chances to attend an event here (or throw one yourself).
