They also mention some of the hit movies that have been filmed in Austin. In fact, “Bird Box” and “Dazed and Confused” are both credited with being filmed in the “weird” city.

Much of the action in the show takes place at a luxury hotel in Austin. The first meeting between the contestants and hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey is at a gorgeous bar that is sure to make you ask: where was “The Ultimatum” filmed?

Jetset Times reports that this is the luxury Austin Marriott Downtown. The four-star hotel is home to over 600 guest rooms and 25 luxury suites, along with all the amenities you might expect from a hotel of its caliber.

It also is the home to the Zanzibar Rooftop Bar, where the contestants get a chance at “playing single” and mingling with other people. As for where the contestants stayed during their trial marriages, Jetset says that this is another Marriott property — Aloft Downtown Austin.

It wouldn’t be a true reality dating show without some lavish dates at some prime locations around the city. There are plenty of other restaurants and bars we see that are sure to make you wonder about “The Ultimatum” filming locations.

You may remember a scene in episode four where Jake and Rae share a kiss on a huge patio. According to Austin Monthly, this is The Oasis on Lake Travis, an iconic Austin restaurant with a beautiful view overlooking the lake.

Speaking of Rae, they also divulge the location where she introduces Jake to her father at a race track. The Circuit of the Americas is the place to be for racing in Austin, when people aren’t racing their luxury cars there it is home to many Formula 1 races.

There are a few more restaurants around Austin that the contestants visits. House and Whip reports that the production visited Patrizi’s, the restaurant has two locations, and “The Ultimatum” contestants were at the one near Austin’s Vortex Theater. Patrizi’s is famous as one of the city’s best and most authentic Italian restaurants.

Another bar that the contestants patronize is The Lobbyist, a two-story bar in the Downtown Austin Marriott.

Will there be a second season of “The Ultimatum”?

Fans of the show probably had one question on their minds after the finale of the first season: when is the second one coming out? Thankfully the answer is yes – and we won’t have to wait long!

According to Variety, filming of the second season wrapped in early July 2022, and it is almost out of post-production. The second season will reportedly be called “The Ultimatum: Queer Love” and focus on a mostly female, queer cast. Nick and Vanessa Lachey will not return to host, with Pop Sugar reporting that scheduling conflicts will keep them away from season 2. The duo do however intend to return to host season 3!

It’s unknown whether or not the contestants will be in Austin again. Netflix has filmed similar reality series in cities like Atlanta, Georgia. Wherever they decided on filming, we’ll have our eyes glued to the latest dose of relationship drama when it’s released sometime this year.
