When you're planning a movie, the set is part of what makes the plot believable. And the more authentic the props you include the more immersive the film becomes. Many of the most ordinary sets are some of the hardest to build, however. Sets like salons,
diners, prisons, and hospitals are difficult because they require so many props to look good. Building a hair, skin, or nail salon from scratch also means decorating the walls with believable accessories.
Filmmakers do have some alternatives to building their own salon set, however. You can book time at a film-friendly business that will let you produce a movie on their grounds. Or you can use a set that's purpose-built to look like a salon, restaurant, or other prop-intensive space.
